    NEW

Canvas Parent app:  As of December 4, 2017, parents can use the Canvas Parent app on Android and Apple mobile devices to stay up-to-date with their student's Canvas courses.  The app helps parents stay up-to-date with Canvas course assignments and deadlines.  Parents will be able to connect to their student’s Canvas account by creating their own account in the Canvas Parent app and then having their child log-in with his/her Wake ID information on the parent’s device in order to link the accounts.  Attached is a support document to help parents install and navigate the Canvas Parent App. Parents and teachers can visit http://canvas.wcpss.net/canvasparent for additional information and support.

Senior Fees:  Mid-year grads need to go online to pay $20 through online school payments no later than December 14th.  June grads need to go to the same place to pay $40.

Senior Caps and Gowns:  Either you need to go online to Jostens.com to order before Dec. 13th or students need to order on Dec. 13th when Jostens visits during lunch.  Students will not be allowed to march if they are not properly outfitted.  This attire  includes proper cap and gown.

Summer Ventures in Science and Mathematics:  This program is for high-achieving students.  It is free and held on four UNC system campuses and is open to sophomores and juniors.  Applications are due on January 15th and are available in Student Services.

Schedule Change Requests:  These must be made online on December 18th and 19th.  They must meet the requirements to be considered.  Students whose schedules will be modified will be notified on January 8th or 9th.

STAG and BTAG Clubs:  These clubs are collecting hats, gloves, scarves, socks and puzzle books for transplant and dialysis patients.  If you are interested in making a contribution, you are welcome to send these items to the main office.

Ram Rocks:  Some of you will remember these from RMS.  We have opened this option up for students at RHS.  If you hear your child say that a staff member has done something worthy of a thank you, encourage him or her to go to the main office, media center or Student Services to complete a form and put it in the box.  Sometimes the very best things we can give don’t cost a thing!

ACT Study Guides:  We have guides in the media center available for check out.

NCTAP:  Students who are interested in this apprenticeship program must register to attend a mandatory meeting.  The remaining dates for meetings are January 13th and January 27th.  Visit nctap.org to register and learn more.

Youth Legislative Assembly:  On April 6-8, 2018 the Legislative Services Offices under the NC General Assembly will host the annual Youth Legislative Assembly. The YLA teaches high school students about the laws governing NC citizens as well as the lawmaking process. Students will draft, debate and vote on mock legislative bills while developing skills in research, interviewing, and policy writing. Students must apply and be accepted in order to attend.  Students may apply no later than December 11, 2017, using the link http://www.ncleg.net/ncgainfo/YLA.html.

Bank of America Summer Internship Program:  There is a wonderful opportunity for an 8-week paid internship next summer! The Bank of America Summer Internship Program targets WCPSS juniors and seniors.  Selected students participating in the Student Leaders Program must commit to working for 8 weeks in Wake County with a non-profit for 35 hours each week.  During the 8th week, the students will attend an all expense paid trip to a week long "Student Leaders Summit in Washington D.C."  During the Summit approximately 200 students from all across the country will have an opportunity to connect with like minded students, meet with elected officials in Washington and also network with key individuals from Bank of America.  The conference is July 8-13, 2018.  The application window is open until Feb. 2, 2018.
