Community engagement session for Morrisville school construction projects

This invitation was sent to families living in an area that may be impacted by the change of school sites for both Morrisville High and Parkside Middle.

Wake County Public School System is hosting a community engagement session for Morrisville High School on Aug. 22. You're receiving this invitation because you live in an area that may be impacted by the change of school sites for both Morrisville High and Parkside Middle.

Earlier this month, the Wake County Board of Education voted to approve new plans for ongoing planning and construction projects in Morrisville. These plans will enact the following changes:

  • Morrisville High School will permanently move into the site on Davis Drive, adjacent to Parkside Elementary School. This will happen as early as August 2027.

  • Wake Early College of Information and Biotechnologies (WECIB) will temporarily move into the Davis Drive site in November 2025, before relocating to a newly constructed building on Paramount Parkway, in close proximity to Wake Technical Community College’s RTP Campus.

A major benefit to this new plan will be an increased high school capacity. These changes will still allow for WECIB 9th and 10th graders to move off of the Wake Tech campus on their currently scheduled timeline in approximately November 2025 to the temporary space on Davis Drive, then moving to a final location that optimizes its relationship with Wake Tech. The new plan will also decrease the program footprint of the construction of the new middle school/WECIB on the Paramount Parkway site, potentially lowering the cost-per-student total for the project.

In this session, you will hear a presentation from district staff about a decision to locate the school at the Little/Davis Dr. site. There will be renderings of the school and you’ll be able to share your thoughts about school construction in Morrisville
