West Millbrook Magnet Middle School celebrates its new building with a ribbon cutting
October 10, 2023
West Millbrook Magnet Middle School held the official ribbon-cutting ceremony for its new building on October 10, 2023. Although the school opened in August of 2022, the ribbon-cutting ceremony was delayed while the athletic fields were completed.
Principal Kelly Aman, school staff, and student ambassadors welcomed guests. A student vocal ensemble performance was led by director Jenna Martel. Speakers included Wake County Board of Commissioners Vice-Chair Susan Evans, PTA President Emily Stagg, and WCPSS Board of Education Chair Lindsay Mahaffey.
West Millbrook Magnet Middle School was an on-site replacement of the existing middle school. The new school will accommodate more than 1,200 students and includes teaching spaces for the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IBMYP).

"What I've said to my teachers is this building reflects the magic that they do every single day. This is a building that will still be here in 100 years. The size is right for growth. Kids have room to learn, and kids have room to grow." - Principal Kelly Aman
