WCPSS participates in National Magnet Schools Month
Feb. 12, 2025
WCPSS and Magnet Schools of America (MSA) are celebrating National Magnet Schools Month in February. As leading examples of magnet school excellence, these schools provide outstanding learning opportunities for their students and join a growing cohort of recognized magnet programs across the country.
The Office of Magnet and Curriculum Enhancement Programs is dedicated to creating well-rounded, dynamic students ready to take on the world. Our specialized programs are designed to challenge students, build on their strengths, and introduce them to exciting new experiences. Each of our unique themes blends standard curriculum with innovative instructional models, pushing students to think creatively and analytically.
"For more than 40 years, our magnet programs have been at the vanguard of the magnet school movement, promoting diversity while creating unique learning opportunities for countless thousands of students," says Superintendent Robert P. Taylor. "I’m tremendously proud of the students and staff at all of our magnet schools."
Since 1996, over 500 Magnet Schools of America National Merit Awards have been given to WCPSS magnet and early college schools. In the 2024-25 school year, 18 out of 24 of the Top Magnet Schools of Excellence in the nation belong to our school system.
