    Clubs

Question:       How do students start a club at Green Level?

Answer:         The first step in creating a club is to find a teacher advisor and submit a club application.  Our goal is to have this information posted for students in late spring-early summer.  The school will initiate the process for the following student organizations:  National Honor Society, Student Council, DECA, FBLA, and Skills USA.  We may add more as we progress over the next several months.

Question:       What are the requirements for membership in DECA?

You must be enrolled in (or already taken) one of the following CTE courses: Personal Finance, Entrepreneurship I, or Project Management I.

Question:       Is there going to be Science Olympiad at Green Level?

Answer:         Science Olympiad would be considered a club.  Please see the question regarding clubs for more information.

Question:       When will Apex HS be completely moved out of the building?

Answer:         Apex will move out in June and July.  There will be a time of transition over the summer months and it is possible that the administrative areas for both schools will be housed at Green Level for a short time.

Question:       Will 10th grade students that have a valid NC driver’s license be able to park on campus?

Answer:         Yes.  Students will need to contact Ms. Summers when they obtain their driver’s license.  Only Juniors and Seniors will be allowed to leave campus for lunch.

Question:       Will Driver’s Education be offered at Green Level next year?

Answer:         Jordan Driving School assigned Chip Bunn (cbunn20@wcpss.net) to be the Driver Education Lead Teacher at Green Level HS.  Driver Education classes for Green Level students will not actually begin until September 2019.

Summer Driver Education Classes-- Any student who will be attending Green Level next year can register to take a Driver Education class this summer at any of the other area high schools-- (Apex, Apex Friendship, Cary, Green Hope, Holly Springs & Panther Creek). Per WCPSS/Jordan Driving School policy-the oldest 35 students who register are placed into each class.

Registration for summer Driver Education classes will take place during the month of April. The summer registration form and summer class schedules for every high school will be available at the end of March at www.jordandriving.com You will need to submit the Summer Registration form during the month April directly to the Lead Teacher at the high school you would like for your child to take Driver Education.

    Math

Question:       Why is ICM (Intro to College Math) not on the 10th grade course offerings?

Answer:         ICM is a senior level class.

Question:       Can students take two Math courses in the same year?

Answer:         We understand that some students want to double up on specific subjects and we fully support their requests.   Any student seeking to double up in any subject can do so by selecting a second class as an elective course on his/her course registration.  With that being said, students will submit 12-course selections (8 primary and 4 alternates) and the computer will select 8 courses. Realistically, please understand there is not a guarantee that all students’ requests for doubling up will be granted.

Question:       Can I accelerate by taking math over the summer at Enloe?

Answer:          No.  We will not approve Dual-Course Enrollment at Enloe for courses that we offer at GLHS.  We understand that some students want to double up on specific subjects and we fully support their requests.

Question:       Can I accelerate in math by taking an online course through NCVPS or another online program?

Answer:         No.  In the new WCPSS NCVPS Policy, students are approved for online courses during the school day to the extent that it is academically and financially prudent.  Courses must be part of the student’s comprehensive course of study needed to graduate or to get back on grade level with their graduating cohort.  Therefore, acceleration does not qualify for NCVPS.
