Ms. Teresa Caswell
I am the proud principal and first employee of the new Parkside Elementary School! I am eager toget to know you and your children as we work together to create a new school community.
Parkside Elementary will mark my 5th year as a school principal and my 20th in education (university and elementary levels). I am currently a doctoral student at Johns Hopkins University. I am passionate about educational equity and supporting students’ individual interests as teachers provide high levels of standards-based instruction. As principal of Alston Ridge Elementary, this was done through implementation of The Project Approach, where students learn through research, interviewing experts, and engaging in field experiences. I look forward to extending this work at Parkside!
I am married with two children, ages 23 and 15. I love to read, dabble in gourmet cooking, and, if you have begun following me on twitter (@TeresaLky3), you know I am a fan of Star Trek the Next Generation! We also have a school twitter site (@es_parkside) that is also live on this website main page.
Over the next several months, I will be visiting students in their current schools, seeking their input for various aspects of our school culture. Additionally, several evening gatherings have been scheduled in January (please see announcements on the main page). Additional meetings will be scheduled later this spring that are not based at current schools; I'd love all parents to begin meeting together as we build our new school community.
Finally, there will be opportunities for me and Parkside staff to interact with your kiddos including a spring event "Picnic in the Park with the Parkside Principal" and a few dates for me to read to/with your students at local libraries.
I am looking forward to working with you to create the new Parkside Elementary community. Please feel free to contact me (firstname.lastname@example.org) and let me know if I can help you in anyway as we begin this journey together.
Teresa Caswell, Principal
