Woods Creek Elementary holds ribbon cutting ceremony
Nov. 12, 2024
After a successful start to the 2024-25 school year, Woods Creek Elementary held a ribbon cutting ceremony to commemorate the opening of their brand-new building off of Woods Creek Road in Holly Springs.
Students recited “The Wizard Way,” as they joined Principal Jonathan Hegedus, school system leaders, members of the Board of Education and community members in celebration. Students helped raise the flag before Principal Hegedus, Superintendent Taylor, Board member Mahaffey and Holly Springs Mayor Sean Mayefskie delivered remarks to mark the occasion. Principal Hegedus then invited WCPSS, Holly Springs and Wake County officials to the podium to cut the big blue ribbon.
The 133,407 square foot facility was designed by Skinner Farlow Kirwan Architecture, featuring two stories accommodating 56 teaching spaces and up to 800 students. The school was built by New Atlantic Contracting, Inc.
