Success through listening, learning, and connecting

Dr. Taylor talks to students

September 29, 2023

The Wake County Public School System is poised for “next level performance,” and our mission and Strategic Plan establish clear expectations for all stakeholders to create learning environments that can position every student to be a globally and culturally competent citizen. Our students must know they not only make a difference in their community but across a diverse and global stage in careers and in life. My role as Superintendent will honor the many faces of diversity and value the work of talented teachers and leaders in the Wake County Public School System.

Stakeholders have also shared that they expect their next Superintendent to be a leader that models high standards, knows and has been effective at teaching and learning, advocates for schools and children, and is willing to listen. During my entry period, I welcome the opportunity to share these and other characteristics I embody with the WCPSS community.

This entry plan has been developed to guide my work as I engage in a thoughtful, purposeful, proactive and strategic transition to the Wake County Public School System. As I learn more about WCPSS, it is vitally important that I create an atmosphere of trust and transparency desired by all stakeholders. The knowledge I gain will allow me and my leadership team to make informed decisions to create continuous improvement and build upon our existing success, through implementing the many possibilities available to us.

I look forward to working collaboratively with the entire Wake County Public Schools System’s community in refining our national model of how schools serve and support a diverse student body that is poised to lead with compassion, commitment, and service to all.

With kind regards,

Dr Robert P. Taylor
