Students, faculty, staff and friends, along with members of Counseling and Student Services, surprised Dr. Stephanie Nelson this afternoon with the announcement that she is the 2023 WCPSS School Counselor of the Year! She has been a school counselor at Garner Magnet High School since 2007.
Stephanie is a leader in her school and in the school counseling profession. In the words of her administration: "She has put into action the latest techniques in school counseling, and these have resulted in maximizing the academic achievement of students. She is leading her school in efforts to implement and sustain a data-driven and comprehensive counseling program. She serves as a Student Services PLC Leader and RAMP Leader. She is known for her enthusiasm and serves as a tireless worker who leads by example."
We are thankful for her dedicated service to WCPSS and to the school counseling profession and congratulate her on this outstanding accomplishment!
