Board names three new principals

The Board of Education approved the following changes at its Oct. 15, 2024 meeting: 

Principals

• Montrina Artis, Assistant Principal at South Garner High to Principal at East Garner Elementary
• Beth Keefer, Assistant Principal at Wakefield High to Principal at Fox Road Elementary
• Shantel Summerfield, Assistant Principal at Mills Park Middle to Principal at Stough Elementary

Interim Principal

• Carla Jernigan Baker, Retiree to Interim Principal at Walnut Creek Elementary

Assistant Principal

• Cristina Lane, Intervention/Math Coach at Reedy Creek to Assistant Principal at Pleasant Grove Elementary

Interim Assistant Principals

• Dwayne Bissette, Retiree to Interim Assistant Principal at South Garner High
• Elaine Hanzer, Retiree to Interim Assistant Principal at Connections Academy
• Sally Reynolds, Retiree to Interim Assistant Principal at Wakefield High
