WakeTogether seeks volunteer tutors

You say you want to give back to the community but not quite sure how?

 

Well, here's one really great way.

 

WakeTogether is a new community partnership among WCPSS, the YMCA of the Triangle, Wake Up and Read Campaign for Grade Level Reading partners, Read and Feed, Communities In Schools of Wake County, Boys & Girls Clubs serving Wake County, WakeEd Partnership and the City of Raleigh - Government.

 

The partnership is working together (and invites more partners interested in joining) to train volunteers to learn how to effectively tutor elementary students in reading. The Helps Education Fund is spearheading this training.

 

More than 250 volunteers have already signed up, and nearly 150 have been placed in 27 schools.

 

WakeTogether intends to recruit hundreds more in the coming months.
