Principal and Assistant Principal of the Year Finalists Named
Five principals and five assistant principals are now one step closer to being named our district’s next top school leaders.
Following are the finalists who have been nominated by their peers to compete for the district’s 2017-18 Principal and Assistant Principal of the Year titles.
Principal of the Year Finalists:
Felecia Locklear, Brooks Magnet Elementary
Aaron Marcin, Lead Mine Elementary
Mike Regan, Mills Park Elementary
Elizabeth MacWilliams, Carroll Magnet Middle
Jonathan Enns, Fuquay-Varina High
Assistant Principal of the Year Finalists:
Roxann Sykes, Washington Magnet Elementary
Katherine Ware, Wiley Magnet Elementary
Kenya Moore-Kerr, Vandora Springs Elementary
Ginger Wooten, Apex Friendship High
Jose Espinal, Enloe Magnet High
The selection process for both the Principal and Assistant Principal of the Year awards is the same. Once they are nominated by their peers, finalists submit an e-portfolio and participate in an e-portfolio review, school observation and interview. The finalists with the highest scores on these measures are selected as the Principal and Assistant Principal of the Year.
This year’s winners will be named during a ceremony on October 5.
