Degrees and Certifications:
I am originally from Cary, NC and graduated from Apex High School. I attended Wofford College in Spartanburg, SC where I discovered how many amazing things there are to learn about in our world. I graduated with a BA, majoring in both German and Sociology. Shortly thereafter, I got an international TEFL certificate to teach English abroad. I have had the opportunity to live in Europe and South America, allowing me to follow my passion for experiencing different cultures and learn to speak German, French, and Spanish. When I returned to the States, I got my NC Licensure through NCSU in English as a Second Language and Elementary Education. I lived in New York City for about 6 years, but returned to Raleigh in 2011. Though I have traveled to many places, Raleigh is my true home. I have taught ESL to pre-K through adult students as well as 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades. I earned National Board Certification in 2019. My goal is to never stop learning and growing, so I am excited to start a new journey at Centennial as a 7th Grade ELA teacher! My two kids (middle & high schoolers) keep me busy, but in my free time, you will find me knitting, reading, cooking, solving puzzles, traveling, enjoying local festivals & events, or walking with my dog.
