Maegan Wasaff

Greetings from the dance classroom where all bodies are welcome! This is my sixth-year teaching dance but my first-year teaching in a public school. I’m overjoyed to begin this journey at Centennial Magnet Middle School!

I received my Bachelor Of Fine Arts in Dance Performance & Choreography from Ohio University and a Dance Tutorial Degree from the Honors Tutorial Collegewhich revolved around my passion for Dance Education. I have spent many years working in various settings teaching Ballet, Contemporary, Creative Movement, Modern, Jazz, and Hip-Hop. Additionally, I have taught children and adults with all abilities which fuels my advocacy for more inclusive practices in dance education.

I became a dance educator because of all the wonderful teachers who demonstrated their genuine care and support for my passions. I model this creative, collaborative, and individualized mode of education in my work as a dance educator. Validating students’ personal interests, promoting confidence, and building relationships through the collaborative process of dance continues to be a top priority in my practice.

Outside of the classroom, I am a loving dog mom to my rescue, Jenson. A few fun facts about me: I can talk about the history of dance for hours, I collect crystals, and enjoy listening to audiobooks. I look forward to spending the year getting to know your passions inside and outside of the classroom as well as exploring movement together!
