New bus delay notification system

Starting this school year, parents of students who ride the bus can receive up-to-the-minute notifications via text and/or email when their child’s bus is delayed.

 

IMPORTANT: This new system uses SchoolMessenger. You will need to make sure you have permissions turned on to receive these notifications. See information and instructions below.

About the notification system

The new system will send email and text notifications when buses are delayed, or when a bus is unavailable to pick up students.

 

These messages will be sent as soon as transportation staff learn of a disruption. The system is designed to more quickly notify parents so they can make alternate arrangements when necessary.

 

You can still track your child’s bus using the Here Comes the Bus app. There will also be a link on your school's website that will display bus delays, or you can visit wcpss.net/busupdates.

Action steps for parents

To receive these messages, you will need to make sure you have given permission to receive text and/or email notifications via SchoolMessenger.

 

This is the same system used for districtwide messaging, separate from TalkingPoints or other communications services.

 

If you receive the weekly district-wide message sent on Wednesdays, you should be able to receive bus notifications without taking any further action. If you do not receive those weekly messages, go to wcpss.net/schoolmessenger to learn how you can sign up to receive notifications.

 

Simplest option: Text YES to the number 67587. That should automatically allow you to begin receiving text notifications.

Los departamentos de Servicios de Tecnología y de Transporte de WCPSS han desarrollado un nuevo sistema de notificación para informar a las familias cuando hay interrupciones en el servicio de autobús escolar.

 

El sistema se utilizará en todas las escuelas del distrito escolar a partir del año escolar 2024-25.

 

IMPORTANTE: Este nuevo sistema utiliza SchoolMessenger. Deberán asegurarse de tener activados los permisos para recibir estas notificaciones. Consulten la información y las instrucciones a continuación.

Acerca del sistema de notificación

El nuevo sistema enviará notificaciones por correo electrónico y mensajes de texto cuando los autobuses se retrasen o cuando un autobús no esté disponible para recoger a los estudiantes.

 

Estos mensajes se enviarán tan pronto como el personal de transporte se entere de una interrupción. El sistema está diseñado para notificar con mayor rapidez a los padres para que puedan hacer arreglos alternativos cuando sea necesario.

 

Todavía pueden rastrear la ubicación del autobús de su estudiante usando la aplicación Here Comes the Bus. También habrá un enlace en el sitio web de tu escuela que mostrará los retrasos de los autobuses. 

Acciones necesarias para los padres

Para recibir estos mensajes, deberán asegurarse de haber otorgado permiso para recibir notificaciones de texto y/o correo electrónico a través de SchoolMessenger. Este es el mismo sistema utilizado para la comunicación en todo el distrito escolar, independiente de TalkingPoints u otros servicios de comunicación.

 

Si usted recibe el mensaje semanal del distrito escolar que se envía los miércoles, debería poder recibir notificaciones del autobús sin necesidad de hacer nada más.

 

Si no recibe esos mensajes semanales, visite wcpss.net/schoolmessenger para informarse de cómo registrarse para recibir notificaciones.

 

La opción más sencilla puede ser enviar un mensaje de texto con la palabra “YES” (Sí) al número 67587. Esto debería permitirle recibir notificaciones automáticas por mensaje de texto.
