Ms. Alexis Best "The Golden Apple Award" Recipient
Congratulations to Ms. Alexis Best for receiving the prestigious “ Golden Apple Award”. The award first started In 1997, upon our school's opening. Mr. Modest our school's first principal and the A team created “The Golden Apple Award” to help create an atmosphere of trust and respect among teachers and supporting staff.
Alexis, a 2014 graduate of Hampton University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, found her calling to serve and educate early in life. Her passion for youth empowerment led her to transition into the field of education after actively engaging in community service programs. Continuing her academic journey, Alexis earned a Master of Arts in Secondary Education from Grand Canyon University in 2019. Presently, she holds multiple roles at Southeast Raleigh Magnet High School, including Math Coach, Mentor Coordinator, and Math Department Chair. Additionally, she serves as the Step Team Coach, Junior Class Advisor, Prom Coordinator, and Event Creator/Coordinator of the Black History Month Expo and Program. Committed to her professional growth, Alexis is pursuing a Master of School Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Doctor of Organizational Leadership from Grand Canyon University. Her ambition extends beyond the classroom, aspiring to become a Principal and eventually a Superintendent, all while fostering an atmosphere of trust and respect among her colleagues and supporting staff, earning her the prestigious "Golden Apple Award."
