Requesting special transportation for students with IEPs or 504 plans
-
Families of students with an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or 504 plan who are changing schools or addresses may need to request special transportation.
To do this, families should:
-
Enroll their child in the new school or notify their current school of the address change.
-
Inform school staff about their child's IEP or 504 plan.
Transportation for IEP accommodations
Transportation for students with an IEP is considered a related service. The Transportation Department adheres to WCPSS Board of Education policy and will assign students to a regular school bus unless their IEP accommodations cannot be met. In such cases, the department contracts with various vendors to provide alternative transportation services.
An IEP team must make all decisions regarding transportation as a related service. If you need to request an IEP meeting to discuss transportation, please contact your child's special education staff or the principal at their school.
