Thanking our industry partners for shaping tomorrow’s workforce

Students running broadcast
October 12, 2023

The world we live in is rapidly changing. It is our responsibility to prepare students for the workforce that they will enter upon graduation. This week we were able to recognize and thank some of our critical partners in this effort at the School-to-Career Volunteer Celebration breakfast. These volunteers selflessly give of their time and expertise to our students, and our district is a better place for it.

Our industry partners’ reach is wide. They work with principals, administrators, CDCs, Career Academy CDCs and Career Advisory Team Lead Teachers. We appreciate their commitment to staying the course in support of our students, schools, and CTE programs.

What I loved most about this particular celebration was watching our CTE students engage in real-world work experiences. For example, the Middle Creek High School Digital Media Career Academy put on a professional grade awards ceremony. I was in awe of their professionalism and talents.

Attendees also had the opportunity to hear from WCPSS alumna, Anna Feng, who is excelling in the world of HOSA Future Health Professionals. Zebulon GT Magnet Middle student Claire Melton also shared with attendees what she has learned as she begins her CTE journey. These young women are models of the high caliber of students we have here in WCPSS, and I am grateful our industry partners were able to hear directly from them.

The value our industry partnerships bring to our schools, our students and the larger community is immeasurable. We are grateful to each one of you for working alongside us to prepare all of our students for bright futures.

With gratitude,

Dr. Robert P. Taylor
Superintendent
