Hi! My name is Brystal Tatum and this is my first year at Millbrook!

I grew up in Spotsylvania, Virginia and graduated from Liberty University in 2024 with my Bachelor's in Interdisciplinary Studies with a main focus on Education and a minor focus of Psychology. After graduating, I started my teaching journey in Lynchburg, Virginia, where I fell in love with teaching 5th grade!

I moved down to Raleigh this summer and have been exploring all that Raleigh has to offer. In my free time, I enjoy reading, cooking and spending time with my friends and family. My friends and I can normally be found at a local coffee shop or enjoying a nice day at the park. I am so excited to be joining the MECME family!

Why I am excited by our magnet theme...

Growing up by the lake and then living right in the middle of the Blue Ridge Mountains for college, nature has always had a special place in my heart. The Blue Ridge Mountains is definitely one of my favorite places to ever explore. I have been on dozens of hikes all over the mountain range and have grown to love the calming aspects the mountain has to offer - especially watching the sunset over the mountains! I am so excited to share with my students the beauty that nature has to offer and watch them fall in love with nature!
