Degrees and Certifications:

Ms. Deanne Cooper

I am originally from northern Illinois and went to school at Marquette University in Milwaukee. This is my 17th year in WCPSS and I have taught Fifth, First and Third Grades.

I strive each day to bring excitement, curiosity, and fun to the content I teach. I love making real-world and cross-curricular connections so students not only learn the “what” but also understand the “why.” I’m passionate about lifelong learning and hope to inspire that same love in my students. Most importantly, my goal is for every student to feel happy, safe, and confident enough to take risks and do their best each day.

Outside the classroom, I love spending time with my amazing husband, Chris, and our two wonderful children — Katelynn, who is going into 8th grade, and Corbin, who was just born in February 2025! We also share our home with our sweet dog, Iggy. As a family, we enjoy reading, movies, music, games, traveling, museums, and trying new things. We’re big fans of all things Disney, Star Wars, and Marvel!

Why I am excited about our magnet theme...

I’m truly excited about Millbrook Elementary’s Environmental Connections magnet theme because it aligns perfectly with my passion for fostering curiosity and real-world learning. Helping students understand their relationship with the environment encourages them to become thoughtful, responsible citizens who care about the world around them. Integrating environmental themes across subjects not only makes learning engaging and meaningful but also empowers students to see the impact they can have, both locally and globally. I’m eager to inspire my students to explore, ask questions, and take action to protect our planet, creating lifelong learners who value sustainability and stewardship.
