Mrs. Brandy Garrett

Hi! My name is Brandy Garrett. I have been a Wake County teacher for 20+ years. I have been blessed to teach at five schools across the county. These schools have provided me with the tools and resources to teach children on multiple levels through the use of the arts, technology, science, and global studies. I am very proud to be a part of the Millbrook Third Grade Family.

I am a firm believer in fostering a learning environment where children take risks, learn from their mistakes, and are responsible for their words and actions. Some of my favorite things to do during the day are Morning Meeting, novel studies integrating science/social studies, and recess!

When I am not in the classroom teaching, you can find me hanging with my husband Steve, my two children Carleigh and Dylan, our 2 cats Jimmy and Oreo, and our two lizards Go-Go Ricotta and George McStubby Tail. We love to spend time hiking and camping, working in our garden, drawing/painting, and watching movies. We never have a dull moment in our house, and many Garrett Adventures will be shared during the day with your child... so be prepared for many stories at the dinner table! :)

Why I teach...

I grew up traveling the world with my family. My teachers were Peace Corp Volunteers, International Teachers, and parents that had interests in a particular subject and were willing to come teach. Learning was not easy for me moving from place to place, but I was always blessed to cross paths with teachers that would give their all to support me.

I teach because it is my way to thank the teachers who didn't give up on me.

I teach because I know how it feels to sit in a class with peers who pick up the lesson quickly when I needed hours of additional practice.

I teach because I believe learning is not just about sitting and listening, but about getting out of the classroom and doing it.

I teach because it is the most important job in the world.
