Degrees and Certifications:

Mr. Todd Ireland

My name is Todd Ireland and I am from Chester, New Jersey. I started my professional career as a National Park Service Law Enforcement Ranger in Yellowstone National Park after receiving my degree in Justice Studies from Frostburg State University in Frostburg, Maryland.

After meeting my wife Jessica in Yellowstone National Park, we moved to Florida where I worked as a Park Ranger for both the Florida State Parks and Florida Forest Service. I always had a passion for teaching, having been raised in a family of teachers.

In 2014, I received my Bachelor's of Science Degree in Early Childhood Education from Santa Fe College in Gainesville, Florida. I taught Voluntary Pre-K for 7 years on the campus of The University of Florida. Since moving to Raleigh in 2022, I taught at a developmental day school as a lead Pre-K teacher in an inclusive classroom (children with special needs and neuro-typical developing children).

My wife Jessica is the Education Coordinator for The North Carolina Forestry Association, and my daughter Siena is eight, and our rescue beagle/basset hound Fig is two. My hobbies include mountain biking, running, fishing, and spending time in the outdoors with my family.

Why I love our magnet theme...

Having grown-up in the outdoors and worked in the environmental education profession, I have a passion for connecting, exposing, and teaching students all the environment has to offer with fun, hands-on learning experiences, while also teaching then why we need to protect out environment. I am also excited to be a resource for guest speakers and presenters whose professions are related to environmental resources and conservation.
