Community Partners
There are a variety of WCPSS and community programs to support student academic and behavioral growth. Some of these programs include but are not limited to: Foster Grandparents, Y-Learning, Y-Achievers and Read and Feed. These programs are present at specific schools that demonstrate a need for the specific program objectives.
Intervention Plans
The state of North Carolina requires the development and implementation of Personal Education Plans (PEP) for students who are at risk of academic failure. These intervention plans address the student’s needs in order to prevent failure that will lead to not being promoted or graduating and not making appropriate growth. An intervention plan must:
- Include focused intervention and performance benchmarks
- Include evidence-based practices that meet student needs
- Be provided to parents or guardians
- Include parents in the planning, implementation and the ongoing review of the plan
Intervention Teams
Every Wake County school has an Intervention Team. The goal of this team is to strengthen and support the individual student by analyzing all available data within a problem-solving approach.
