Counseling and Student Services
Counseling and Student Services supports students in many ways. We help with academic, social, and emotional needs. Our team includes school counselors, school psychologists, school social workers, and Section 504 support staff.
School counselors
School counselors guide students to succeed in school and life. They offer:
- Classroom lessons
- Individual planning sessions
- Personal and group counseling
Counselors work with families, teachers, and staff. They lead efforts to promote equity, access, and high expectations for every student.
School psychologists
School psychologists are specially trained and licensed to provide a wide variety of services that help students succeed academically, socially and emotionally. In collaboration with educators, parents/guardians and other mental health professionals, school psychologists strive not only to create safe, healthy and supportive learning environments for all students, but also to strengthen connections between home and school. Utilizing leadership, advocacy and collaboration, school psychologists promote overall academic success by providing services that enhance the student, school, home and community partnerships and alleviate barriers to learning. In WCPSS, most school psychologists serve two schools.

Section 504 support
Section 504 Accommodation Plans help students with disabilities succeed in general education. These plans provide supports to ensure students have equal access to learning.
Each school has a Section 504 contact to answer questions. The district has a Section 504 Intervention Coordinator and Psychologist who guide schools through the process.
