Meet the students behind this year’s Enloe Charity Ball

At Enloe High School, a group of students and their staff advisors are working to raise funds (and the roof) for charity! Each year, students from Enloe’s Student Council organize the Enloe Charity Ball (ECB), a county-wide dance that raises funds for a non-profit chosen by the team. During the past 18 years, the school has raised more than $1.9 million for local charities.

The Enloe Charity Ball team smiles together

Student leaders from the 2023 ECB team are Anna Cash Kiser, Celine Ganyo, Darcy Watts, Abby Ramsey, Alex Gilleland, and Regan Lloyd. Staff advisors, Sarah Bailey and Chris Stanton, also support the effort. This year, this team has worked to organize the Charity Ball and many other fundraisers, including a kickball tournament, silent auction, neighborhood caroling, and more.

Members of the student team say it was important to them to choose a charity that helps current and future Enloe High students. The recipient for this year’s fundraising is Neighbor to Neighbor, a nonprofit based in Southeast Raleigh. The organization helps Raleigh students reach grade-level proficiency through one-on-one mentorships. By prioritizing emotional health through evenly splitting play and work time, this group ensures students stay engaged in their academic assignments and have fun.

Aprendo is the nonprofit’s program which specifically supports ESL (English as a Second Language) students through a partnership with Millbrook elementary and middle schools. Neighbor to Neighbor plans to serve an additional 80 students through Aprendo. This expansion will require more support.

The Charity Ball will be held Saturday, December 16 and is open to all students across Wake County. Donate to the Enloe Charity Ball Fund on the North Carolina Community Foundation website.
