Team NCSU Wins $32,500 for Special Education Services

N.C. State head coach Dave Doeren and former Wolfpack football/baseball standout Terry Harvey finished in a tie for third today at the 2017 Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Challenge.

With the finish, Doeren and Harvey won $65,000, which will be split evenly between an endowed scholarship at N.C. State and Doeren's charity of choice: Special Education Services of the Wake County Public School System!
 
Coach Doeren has donated half of his winnings each of past two years to Wake County Public School System Special Education Services. 
 
Wake County Special Education Services provide specially designed instruction including explicit, direct, systematic and research-based strategies to meet individual student needs with multiple opportunities to practice in Wake County, North Carolina. It serves students with programs for autism, deaf and hard of hearing students, emotional disabilities, visually impaired students and a host of other special needs.
 
BACKGROUND: The nation’s premier head coach and celebrity golf event will be held April 30 to May 3 at Reynolds Lake Oconee outside of Atlanta.
 
Proceeds from the event benefit endowed scholarships at the participating universities and charitable foundations selected by the coaches. Since its creation in 2007, the event has contributed a total of $6 million in scholarship and charity, helping make the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl college football’s most charitable bowl game.
 
The Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Challenge main event features pairings that include a university head coach and a former athlete from the same school competing in a scramble format against other university teams from around the country. The event will be broadcast on ESPN in August and December. Specific dates will be announced this summer.
 
The field includes two Heisman Trophy winners, six Dodd Trophy winners, and four new teams including Baylor, Florida and TCU.
