Frequently Asked Questions
-
How will the district manage future growth in the area if the school is converted to a traditional or a track 4 only school?
Based on the projections, any future growth in these areas can be accommodated by utilizing the available seats at the proximate schools in the area.
-
Is the district concerned about the impact on teachers and school staff if the calendars are changed at these schools?
Yes, we have provided staff with information to assist them with their options for moving forward. While some staff may be losing months of employment, others may see a reduction in their class sizes or an opportunity to teach only one subject like most middle school teams.
-
If my family wants to remain on multi-track year-round for middle school, what are my options?
We offer families the option to apply for a transfer through our choice application processes (magnet, transfer, etc.) beginning in October for the upcoming school year. Our staff will review these requests according to Policy 4150. Note that if your transfer request is approved, district bus transportation will not be provided.
-
What options will families have if their elementary and middle school students are on different calendars?
We understand that having children on different school calendars can be challenging for families. Because of the way our district has grown, some elementary and middle schools may not be on the same calendar. To help with this, we offer families the option to apply for a transfer through our choice application processes (magnet, transfer, etc.). Our staff will review these requests according to Policy 4150. However, please note that due to state legislation on K-3 class sizes, we can no longer guarantee that elementary and middle school calendars will always align.
-
What stability options are available for families that are currently attending one of these schools through calendar application or transfer?
In the past, stability options have allowed some families to stay at their current school even if they didn't have district bus transportation. Since these changes aren't being made to address overcrowding, we plan to recommend generous stability options to the Board for approval. This means many families may still be able to remain at their current school without district transportation.

How will changing the calendar of these schools impact carpool? Will carpool take longer?
Carpool should not be affected by the proposed calendar changes. Since these schools are currently operating on only 3 tracks, carpool will be the same as it is when all tracks are in session. The school isn't operating on a multi-track system, so there won't be a larger number of students at the school, which means carpool times should stay the same.
