Ms. Jeanna Leauma

Hello Buccaneers! My name is Jeanna Leauma.  (LAY-OW-MA)  It’s okay if you can’t pronounce it, most people call me Mrs. L and that’s fine with me!  I am so excited to be joining the 4th grade team at Bryan Road Elementary School this year.  After 24 years in education, I still believe that preparing our children for the future is the most important work on the planet!  I will strive to help your child grow academically, socially and emotionally so that they can have every opportunity to be happy and live out their dreams.  4th grade is a very important school year.  It marks the year when your child will be expected to gain a level of independence in the school setting.  It is the year when they begin to decide who they are and how they fit into this big world of ours.   It would be my honor to gain your trust and support throughout the school year so that we can team up and make this the best year for your child!

A little about me…  After growing up in West Virginia, I went to college at Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania, where I earned dual certification in Elementary and Special Education.  After college I took a position in special education in Clark County Nevada (Las Vegas!) and went on to earn a Master’s in Educational Counseling.  After getting married, my husband and I moved to southern California, where I taught 6th grade special education.  After starting our family, sixteen years ago, we moved to North Carolina, and our family has been growing roots here and loving it!  My son is a junior at Willow Spring High School and my daughter is a 6rh grader at Fuquay Varina Middle School.  We are a rugby and soft ball family.  Most of our weekends are spent outdoors watching someone’s game and I wouldn’t change a thing!
