Hi Buccaneer Family! My name is Megan Nelson and I am ready and excited to join the Bryan Road crew. I grew up in Overland Park, Kansas, where I taught 3rd grade for 5 years, before moving to Raleigh in 2018. I attended the University of North Dakota where I swam for 2 years, then completed my swimming career and education at the University of Arkansas, Little Rock with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. I continued my education and received my Master's Degree in Elementary Education from Emporia State University (in Kansas). I recently purchased my first home in Clayton which brought me to the Garner/Clayton area.

 

This school year makes my 10th year teaching, 6th year as a third-grade teacher, and 4th year in Wake County!  I strive to make my classroom a positive, engaging, fun, and inclusive atmosphere where students feels welcome, safe, and loved- a classroom where students can comfortably share ideas and feel successful with any size challenge.  

 

When I'm not at school, I enjoy taking my pup, Willow, to parks, on walks, to the farmer's market, and around town. My 2 sisters and my parents have all recently moved to North Carolina, and I love spending time with them exploring all the fun activities North Carolina offers...., especially the beach! During the summer, you can find me coaching swim team, traveling, teaching, relaxing at the pool, or walking mindlessly through TJ Maxx or Target!

 

I can't wait to get to know all of my students, family, and crew at Bryan Road Elementary and get this year started! GO CHIEFS!!... I mean, Buccs 😉!
