Ms. Amanda Gleason
Hello there! My name is Amanda Gleason and I am SO excited to be a part of the Bryan Road family!
I have been teaching 1st grade in Wake County for 15 years. In my humble opinion, 1st grade is the BEST grade because of the amount of growth I see in my students throughout the year! My favorite part is seeing those "lightbulb moments" when something that used to be hard starts to make sense. It is my goal to create a loving, supportive, and safe classroom family for all my students (past, present, and future!). I believe that students learn best when they know that they are loved and feel safe making mistakes.
I grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina where my parents and younger brother still reside. I received my Bachelor's degree in Communications from North Carolina State University (Go Wolfpack!!) and my teaching license from Meredith College. As an undergrad, I was a member of the NCSU Varsity cheerleading team for 4 years. Needless to say, I am a die-hard Wolfpack fan and love to watch football whenever I can.
I live in Garner with my husband Joey and our beautiful daughters Eden and Emma. We have 1 dog, Lyra, and 2 cats, Mack and Oreo. I enjoy spending time watching Wolfpack football, traveling, doing crafts, and watching anything with sarcastic humor.
Here are a few of my favorite things:
Color: RED
Food: Sushi and ice cream, but not together
Drink: Iced Skinny Caramel Macchiato and Coca-Cola (again, not together)
Flower: Orchid
Places to Shop: Amazon, Athleta, Teach Me Store, and Target
Sport: Football
College Sports Team: N.C. State, Go Wolfpack!
Professional Sports Team: Carolina Panthers

"A hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much money I had in the bank... but the world may be a better place because I made a difference in the life of a child." -Forest Witcraft
