Degrees and Certifications:
Ms. Megan Schwartz
Hey Buccaneers! I am so excited to be the first art teacher at Bryan Road Elementary! I earned my bachelors of science in art education at Appalachian State University in 2009 and started teaching in Wake County the very same year. I grew up in and around Garner and now live here with my husband Aaron, and our three cats and two dogs. I am proud to be a part of a school that serves my Garner community, and I look forward to making Bryan Road my home.
From an early age, I had a passion for art and learning. I believe, and research supports, that students benefit through participation in art education. A huge part of those benefits come from the habits and practices that authentic art-making requires. In our art room, our Buccaneers ARE artists and will be required to make choices, experiment with materials, persevere in the face of challenges, problem solve, think critically and express themselves. Students will explore a variety of media and learn through mistakes, successes, peer coaching, and teacher facilitation. My goal is to engage students in learning and help them hone skills that will help them succeed in the art room and beyond!
I can't wait to Go for the GOLD with my new Buccaneer family! This is going to be a fabulous first year!
