Visual and Performing Arts: Drama
Something for Everyone
Drama offers an exciting, comprehensive variety of opportunities for beginning through advanced levels of study and experience. Courses include work in creativity as well as performance, skills, and stagecraft. Acting and special interest classes provide students with performance opportunities in and outside of class. Enloe offers 6 courses in theatre not offered at any other high school in the county! These courses include Improvisation, two levels of Costume Design & Technology, a double period honors Technical Theatre class, and a double period level 5 Acting class called “Actors Ensemble”. Theatre students explore many areas of the theatre such as history, play analysis, and technical theatre design and production in addition to their acting curriculum. Co-curricular productions such as musicals, non-musicals, one-acts, original plays, and student-directed works are produced each year.
Student Extracurricular Opportunities
The Enloe Drama Club hosts many activities that allow all students to participate in various aspects of theater. The International Thespian Society (ITS) is an honors organization that recognizes students who contribute hundreds of hours to making theatre. ITS also does service projects at school and in the community. Studio Theatre is an opportunity for students to direct their own works. Theatre students spend a great deal of time working on technical crews for the fall play, spring musical, and other performing arts events.
Parents are a vital part of Enloe Theatre. They are needed to run the concession stand, sell tickets for each show, and chaperone field trips. Funds are raised throughout the year to support Enloe Theatre. Sometimes fundraising opportunities are targeted for special uses such as our scholarship fund or for personal funds for trips. New ideas from parents are always appreciated.
