Principal's Message for 3/2/25
Greetings Stough Families!
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! March is here, and it’s shaping up to be an exciting month at Stough!
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended the welcome event for our rising Kindergarten Immersion families last Tuesday. We appreciate our PTA, and Ms. Jenny Watson, and Ms. Gevetta Lawrence for their warm welcome and valuable advice to our incoming families, and support with spirit wear sales. Your presence made the event even more meaningful for our incoming families! I’d also like to shout out our Magnet Coordinator, Ms. Jenny Zhao, and Kindergarten teachers, Ms. Celena Zhang, Ms. Louisa Wang, and Ms. Dan Zhao for organizing and facilitating this event for our incoming families! A special thank you to Ms. Sara Morlock, Ms. Shelly Cox, Ms. Maggie Mariella, and our custodial team, Mr. Luis, Mr. Jerry, and Ms. Reina for your support in making the event a success!
This week, we celebrate School Social Work Appreciation Week and recognize the incredible work of Ms. Lucretia Greaux, our dedicated school social worker. Ms. Greaux plays a vital role in supporting our students and families, and we are so grateful for her care, compassion, and advocacy. Please join us this week in showing her our appreciation!
We’re also looking forward to Read Across America Week and Spirit Week at Stough, along with the Book Fair! Families are invited to join us for Family Night on Thursday, March 6th, from 5-7 PM. Be sure to check the PTA section below for more details on shopping days and Family Night!
On Wednesday, March 5, Stough will participate in the statewide Severe Weather Drill (Tornado Drill) as part of Severe Weather Preparedness Week. This drill is an important opportunity to practice safety procedures and ensure that students and staff are prepared in the event of severe weather.
As we move into March, we also recognize Ramadan, a sacred month of fasting, reflection, and community for many of our Muslim students, families, and staff. Ramadan began on Friday, February 28th, and ends on Sunday, March 30th. We are committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for all of our students. If your child is observing Ramadan and needs accommodations, please don’t hesitate to reach out to a member of our team. To our families who are observing, we wish you Ramadan Mubarak!
Thank you for your continued partnership and support. Please take a moment to review the updates and reminders below for additional details about what’s happening in the Stough community this week.
