Mr. Michael McCue - Art
My name is Michael McCue and this is my eighth year teaching elementary art and my fifth year as a Stough Stallion. I am originally from Long Island, New York, where I received both my bachelor's (Molloy College) and master's (Hofstra University) in Art Education K-12 before I relocated to Wake County in 2015. You can also find me teaching at Artspace in downtown Raleigh in the summer. I am loving being a North Carolinian, and most importantly, educating the future! My goal is for students to impress themselves with what they can create as I mentor them to uncover their hidden talents. I would like students to enjoy creating artwork as much as I enjoy teaching it. I look forward to a successful year of having our students find their inner artist. Follow my Twitter @MrMcCueArt for art class updates!

Mrs. Amy Galvan - Media
I grew up in eastern North Carolina. I graduated from Meredith College with a B.A. in English and from NCCU with a Master of Library Science degree. I have been Library Media Coordinator at Stough since 1999. Prior to coming to Stough, I had taught high school English and middle school language arts and math (yes, math!). I love to read, and I hope to share my love for reading with my students. I also enjoy the quest for information. I strive to help my students learn where to search for and find reliable information when they need it.
My husband and I stay busy driving our son, who is a junior at Broughton, to youth group activities and football practice. I enjoy music, so I sing alto in the church choir, play in the handbell group, and work with one of the children’s choirs at church. When I get a free moment at home, I love to spend time creating cards and scrapbook pages. I recently started to crochet, but I am still a novice at that!

Mr. Mathew Hooker - PE
My name is Mathew Hooker and I have been teaching Elementary PE for the last 22 years. I have been at Stough for 17 years. I am originally from England, but I was recruited in 1993 to play soccer for Campbell University where I received a B.S. in Sports Management and an M.Ed in Exercise Science. I am licensed in K-12 Physical Education with National Board Certification.
My goal for your child is to provide a quality Physical Education program so that all students develop healthy living habits in a comfortable, safe, and fun environment. This is accomplished by following the NC Essential Standards for Healthful Living and providing many opportunities for your child to succeed during PE activities.

Ms. Ya-Han "Sunny" Chiang
I am Ya-Han Chiang, my students like to call me Sunny laoshi. I am originally from Taiwan, and have a bachelor's degree in Chinese literature at Feng Chia University, and then came to US for school in 2006 for a master's degree in Linguistics at Indiana State Univ. After that, I taught Mandarin Chinese at a middle school in Oakland, California for a year. Then, I finally settled down in Raleigh in 2011 with my husband. Now we have two boys who both speak Mandarin and English. We like to go to the park, watch movies, and play board games together.
Before working at Stough, I was the pre-K assistant teacher for 4 years. Also, I have been a Chinese teacher at Raleigh Chinese language school for 10 years. My class is for kids ages 4-5 from English-speaking families. I am also a private Chinese tutor for different levels of students. My class is FUN because I like the method “Learn through playing”.
I LOVE traveling and have been to Canada, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Greece, Italy, Germany, Netherland, Spain, Portugal, Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, Vietnam…and still want to explore more new countries and learn from the trips. I hope I can bring this passion and energy to my students and share the language and cultural differences with them. Please come to learn Mandarin Chinese with me. It will be FUN. Hen hao wan!!! LOL.
