Mr. Michael McCue - Art
My name is Michael McCue and this is my sixth year teaching elementary art and my third year as a Stough Stallion. I am originally from Long Island, New York, where I received both my bachelor's at Molloy College and master's in Art Education K-12 at Hofstra University before I relocated to Wake County in 2015. You can also find me teaching at Artspace in the summer. I am loving being a North Carolinian, and most importantly, educating the future! My goal is for students to impress themselves with what they can create as I mentor them to uncover their hidden talents. I would like students to enjoy creating artwork as much as I enjoy teaching it. I look forward to a successful year of having our students find their inner artist.

Mrs. Amy Galvan - Media
I grew up in eastern North Carolina. I graduated from Meredith College with a B.A. in English and from NCCU with a Master of Library Science degree. I have been Library Media Coordinator at Stough for 22 years. I also have experience teaching high school English and middle school language arts and math (yes, math!). I love to read, and I hope to share my love for reading with my students. I also enjoy the quest for information. I strive to help my students learn where to search for and find reliable information when they need it.
My husband and I stay busy driving our son, who is a freshman in high school, to youth group activities, band concerts, Battle of the Books practices and the other things that are part of middle school life. I enjoy music, so I sing alto in the church choir, play in the handbell group, and work with one of the children’s choirs at church. When I get a free moment at home, I love to spend time creating cards and scrapbook pages. I recently started to crochet, but I am still a novice at that!

Mr. Mathew Hooker - PE
My name is Mathew Hooker and I have been teaching Elementary PE for the last 20 years. I have been at Stough for 15 years. I am originally from England, but I was recruited in 1993 to play soccer for Campbell University where I received a B.S. in Sports Management and an M.Ed in Exercise Science. I am licensed in K-12 Physical Education with National Board Certification.
My goal for your child is to provide a quality Physical Education program so that all students develop healthy living habits in a comfortable, safe, and fun environment. This is accomplished by following the NC Essential Standards for Healthful Living and providing many opportunities for your child to succeed during PE activities.
