Principal's Message, 5-6-22
Greetings Stough Families,
Happy Mother's Day Weekend!
First, THANK YOU for how you blessed us throughout Staff/Teacher Appreciation Week this past week. Your efforts and resources mean so much to our entire staff. We do our jobs because we love to serve your students to the best of our ability, and we couldn't do this important work without the ongoing support of our Stough Families.
Today is the last day to make your voice heard in Wake County's Family Survey. Please complete this survey if you haven't already! Thanks.
Other Weekly Updates:
1. Next week is a five-day week of school.
2. Art & Music Night is a few weeks away on Wednesday, May 25 (raindate, May 26) from 5:30-7:30pm. This will be our first in-person Art & Music Night since 2019! There will be student art displayed in our main hallways, and all students will perform outside close to the turf field. Here is a glimpse of when each grade level is slated to perform:
K/1 - 6pm
2/3 - 6:30pm
4/5 - 7pm
Students are asked to report to the gym 30 minutes prior to their assigned performance times.
3. This past week in P2, we studied the trait, leadership. The final weeks of the year will be reviews of previous traits that may need additional emphasis.
4. An important note about EOG re-testing for 3rd, 4th and 5th grade families:
Wake County is committed to providing all students with an excellent education. At the end of the school year, your child will participate in the regular administration of North Carolina End-of-Grade (EOG) tests. Students who score Level 3 or higher on these assessments are considered proficient. Students who do not score a Level 3 or higher on the regular administration and have passed the course/ subject have the option to participate in a Remediation and Readministration opportunity in the summer (June 14, 15). The summer program will be held here at Stough. Transportation will be provided, and breakfast and lunch will be available.
At this time, we are providing you with information about this opportunity and asking whether you want your student to opt-in. Here is the Google Form for you to indicate your preference. After students complete their EOGs, we will determine which children are eligible, and those families will receive an invitation for the summer program. Completing the form will help us determine how many students might be interested in the summer program should they qualify. Thanks!
