Principal's Message, 4-1-22
Greetings Stough Families,
First of all, thanks for your patience yesterday as we had to pause dismissal due to the Severe Weather Warning in our area. Our staff and students did a great job sheltering-in-place until we received the "all-clear." These real-life experiences provide good examples for our students of why we take our drills so seriously. If you have questions about what occurred, feel free to reach out to me directly.
Here are your weekly updates as we start Quarter 4:
1. Quarter Three report cards go home today. Next week is a five-day week for students before they have a week off for Spring Break.
2. For our long-range planners, here are a few significant dates as we finish this school year:
- Spring Break, April 9-17
- 5th Grade Field Trip, Museum/IMAX, April 20
- 4th Grade Field Trip, NC Symphony, April 20
- Stough Art & Music Festival (all students), May 25 (rain date, May 26)
- EOGs for 3rd, 4th and 5th Grades, June 1-3
- Fifth Grade Celebration, June 10
3. Here's an important note from Mrs. Galvan about student devices:
Please make sure that your students are bringing their WCPSS assigned devices to school daily. This month we must complete a physical assessment of each student device as we ensure that devices are ready for end of year testing. If your student's device is broken or lost, you can submit a Help Desk ticket immediately at https://staform.wcpss.net. Broken devices can be dropped off in the Library Media Center for repair. You should also submit a Help Desk ticket or contact agalvan@wcpss.net about missing or damaged chargers.
4. We've been prompting students to check the (overflowing) Lost and Found each week. We will be donating all remaining items to a worthy charity the week of Spring Break. If you are certain that your child has left a valuable item at school, please prompt your child to check the Lost & Found one more time next week. Thanks.
5. This week in P2, our classes studied the trait humor. Next week, we will study the "Other People Mindset" of Identifying and Appreciating the Good in Others.
Here is a one-page overview of this mindset that you can use to continue the conversation at home.
6. Finally, a random request - we are still looking for a replacement for our Lead Secretary/Bookkeeper position in the front office. If you or someone you know is interested in working with a great team at a great school, please have him/her contact me directly!

Sadly, my weekend outlook depends on the outcome of a basketball game. For those of you that don't care about the Final Four, consider yourself fortunate...
Have a great weekend,
