Principal's Message, 3-25-22

Stough Families,

Can you believe we've already completed three quarters of the school year?  Onward to the fourth quarter...

 

1.  Next week is a four day week for students.  Monday, March 28 is a Teacher Workday.

 

 

2.  Tuesday, March 29 is Spring Picture Day.  This is also whole-class picture day.  Order forms are going home in today's Friday Folders.

 

Also, we've reached the deadline to order your 2021-22 Stough yearbook.  Here's the link to the flyer from Lifetouch with details on how to order online.  The deadline is Monday!

 

 

3.  This week in P2, we reviewed different traits from earlier in the year.  Next week, we will introduce the trait humor.

 

To help extend the learning to our students' homes, we encourage you to review these P2 for Families resources at home. The password is: P2

 

 

4.  The window to request testing for Single Subject Acceleration or SSA closes at midnight tonight, March 25.  Here is the link to request testing:  https://forms.gle/v2SonEnJJ91j6yzG9.  For more information, please contact Mrs. Cecconi-Roberts, lcecconi-roberts@wcpss.net.

 

 

5.  A note from Coach Hooker:

 

You're the best! Our Kids Heart Challenge (KHC) has officially ended and your donation amount of $5,849.36 will help support the American Heart Association’s work to: 

  • Advocate for more physical education for kids

  • Push for healthier school meals 

  • Train people to perform life-saving CPR 

  • Fund critically needed research

6.  A note for fifth grade families from Mrs. Shaw:

 

5th Grade Parents, 
 
Your student is bringing home the Student Recommendations and Requests Form in their Friday folder today.  Please look it over and sign it.  If changes need to be made, please write on the paper and have your child see me.  If it looks great, please sign it and have it returned to me by TUESDAY, MARCH 29, 2022.

7.  For those interested, here is some info about the annual football camp at Broughton:

 

Broughton Football is excited to present the fourth annual Fastbreak Football camp.  This year's camp will run from Monday, 6/27 to Friday, 7/1 and is open to boys and girls in rising 4th - 8th grades.

Fastbreak Football Camp is unique in that it focuses on character education, general athletic development, and weight room fundamentals in addition to football specific instruction.  Coaches at Fastbreak Football Camp will teach young athletes the key character traits required of good teammates, the fundamentals of the game of football, and the athletic postures and movements necessary to excel in any sport. Instruction will be clear and concrete. Activities will be fun and fast-paced.

Register today by visiting www.fastbreakfootballcamp.com.  The cost of camp is $250, but Financial Aid is available.  No camper will be turned away for financial reasons.

Thank you to all our Book Fair volunteers this week! We are so grateful to all of you for your time and patience. The Book Fair was a great success thanks to the entire Stough community. Special thanks also to Tara Hun-Dorris for organizing! Thank you!

Salsa Fresh Fundraiser- March 29

Visit Salsa Fresh at 5910 Duraleigh Road on Tuesday, March 29 to give back to the PTA. Fundraiser runs all day! 

Char-Grill Fundraiser and Playdate- April 19 

Visit Char Grill at 3210 Edwards Mill Road on Tuesday, April 19 to give back to the PTA. Fundraiser runs all day! 

Pick up dinner and head to the Laurel Hills Playground to eat and play with Stough friends from 5:00-7:00pm! 

General PTA Meeting

Please save the date! The next PTA meeting is scheduled on Thursday, May 12 at 7:00pm. This meeting will include elections for the 22-23 school year. More information will come on the meeting format (in person/virtual) closer to that date.
