    UPDATES


     

    DECA SOCK/SHOE DRIVE

    DECA is participating in a shoes and socks drive for the Men’s and Women’s Shelter. Donate either gently used shoes or new socks to room 134 by November 15th! 
     

    PreACT / WORK KEYS TESTING

    On November 6th we will be giving the PreACT to all 10th graders and the ACT WorkKeys to about 200 seniors. All other students will follow a normal (slightly modified) schedule, attending period 1,2,3, and 4. Students involved in testing were sent an email on 10/21 to their WCPSS email address. Parents of 10th or 12th graders, please ask your child to check their email to learn more information on if and where they will test and why they are testing on November 6th. Email shs-testing@wcpss.net if you have any questions.   

     

    NOVEMBER 5

    Due to a scheduled power outage at Sanderson on November 5, campus will be closed to visitors until 12pm.  If you need to come to campus, you may want to call first to make sure everything is back on.  Coaches and advisors will communicate information about practices/meetings separately. 

     

    ACADEMY OF FINANCE PIE SALE

    AoF is kicking off their annual pie fundraiser.  Part of this includes providing a pie to each staff member at Sanderson. If you would like to purchase a pie(s) for a staff member, please go to this link: https://www.shsaof.com/product-page/sanderson-pto-pie-donation  

     

     

    SANDERSON FOOD BANK

    We are excited to announce that the Sanderson Spartan Food Pantry is now open! Weekend Pantry Packs are available at no charge for Sanderson students, families, and staff. If you are in need of food items for the weekend, we want to help! 

    REQUESTS: Complete the Google form. We can guarantee bags for Friday pick-up if requests are completed by noon on Thursdays.  The links can be found in the following locations:

    PICK-UP: Bags can be picked up on Fridays after school 2:18 - 2:30 pm in Trailer 2 (in the bus lot).  Appointments are available for alternate pick-up times by email request:  jmelvin@wcpss.net and rjennings@wcpss.net 

    DONATIONS: We accept donations of non-perishable food and personal hygiene items.

    SANDERSON PTO ANNUAL GIVING CAMPAIGN UPDATE

    Thank you to the amazing families who donated to the Spartan Strong Annual Giving Campaign so far. We have raised $26,460. We are only $3,540 away from our goal! We are still accepting donations and need everyone's help to fully fund the PTO programs that benefit all Sanderson Students and Teachers.     The deadline for the following important information is November 8th. 

    • If a student would like to Opt-out of taking the AP Exam in May, the student must complete the AP Exam Opt-Out Form.
    • If a student would like to take an AP Exam Only, because they are not enrolled in an AP Exam this semester or next semester then they must complete the AP Exam Only Form
    • If you have any questions regarding these deadlines and/or forms, please contact Ms. Johnson Ward at djohnson-ward@wcpss.net.  

     

    WE LOVE VOLUNTEERS! 

    Volunteers that wish to help with school events, school activities, boosters, chaperone or other school needs should complete the WCPSS Volunteer registration.  This includes parents, grandparents, substitute teachers and WCPSS Staff! If you completed this last year, you would need to complete the "Volunteer Renewal for 2024-25". Start by going to the WCPSS Volunteer page.     IMPORTANT COUNSELING PRESENTATIONS IN HEALTHFUL LIVING CLASSES 

    In the coming weeks, counselors will visit Healthful Living classes to provide guidance lessons on Signs of Suicide (SOS) and Human Trafficking. In accordance with NC Senate Bill 279, all students in grades 7-9 will receive instruction on trafficking prevention and awareness. 

    Lesson Dates: Human Trafficking: Tuesday, October 22nd through Thursday, November 14th 

    Opt-Out Information: You may opt your child out of these presentations by returning the signed SOS and Human Trafficking letters. For questions, contact SAP Counselor Rashunda Jennings rjennings@wcpss.net.

    SENIOR YEARBOOK PHOTOS (Tux & Drape)

    The final call for senior pictures will take place on November 26 in the gym. There is no sitting fee for this session as these sessions are for yearbook photos only and do not include multiple poses or cap and gown pictures. A sign-up form for this event will be sent out at a later date.  

     

    SENIOR FEES 

    All seniors are assessed at $30 fee to cover various costs associated with graduation (diploma cover, stoles, etc)Seniors must clear all fines/fees prior to graduation in January or JunePayments must be made through School Cash Online. 

     

    College Essay Support 

    Seniors may want to take advantage of free essay help offered by experienced individuals on SHS's Parent Teacher Organization.  Click here to find out more

    ANNUAL SPORTS PASS 

    The Annual Sports Pass sold by Sanderson Athletic Club permits entry into all regular season home athletic events for Fall, Winter, & Spring Sports Seasons.  Buy your passes before September 15th to take advantage of last year’s pricing.  Prices increase on September 16, 2024. 
    Pricing for 2024 – 2025 Annual Sports-Pass until September 15, 2024: 

    • $210.00 – Family Annual Sports Pack (2 Adults and up to 3 children in the same household, including student athletes) 

    • $50 Grandparent Add On (**Must be purchased in conjunction with a Family Pack) 

    • $80.00 – Individual Annual Sports Pass 

    • $55.00 – Student Annual Sports Pass (For Sanderson Students only)

    To participate in athletics students must have an updated physical (in the last year) and other paperwork.  All paperwork must be uploaded to Dragonfly. Your physical form must be the WCPSS form not a generic physical form. Directions for dragonfly.
