    SCHOOL WIDE UPDATES


     

    ALL 11TH GRADERS WILL TAKE THE ACT ON TUESDAY AT 7:25 

    Juniors should complete their accounts at MyACT.org before testing or no later than two days after testing. They can watch a video on how to do this at tinyurl.com/shsact25. Not completing this task will make it difficult for students to retrieve their scores online. 

    Students received a notice with their test location from their 2nd period teacher. 

    WHAT TO BRING: 

    • Charged Chromebook & charger
    • Pencils 
    • Calculator
    • Water and a snack 

    All other belongings will be stored in the back of the classroom and phones will be collected and held until the end of the testing session by the test administrator. 

    WHAT NOT TO BRING – LEAVE AT HOME! 

    • Smart watches 
    • Earbuds and Bluetooth headphones  
     

    Any student with any prohibited electronic device other than their Chromebook during testing, including the break, will be dismissed from testing.

    PTO SCHOLARSHIP

    $2,000 PTO Scholarship application opens tomorrow, March 10 through March 28. All Sanderson students are encouraged to apply. For more information, click here

     

    FAN BUS TO WINSTON SALEM

    We will offer a fan bus for current Sanderson students who plan to attend the Final Four in Winston Salem on Wednesday, March 12.  Please complete this Google Form (including a signed permission form and pay for the bus via GoFan by 2:30pm on Tuesday, March 11. An anonymous donor will cover the cost of the game ticket for anyone riding the bus.

    Here is the itinerary for this trip:

    • 12:30pm - students meet in the bus parking lot
    • 1:00pm - depart Sanderson
    • 3:15pm - arrive at LJVM Arena
    • 4:00pm - Sanderson vs. New Hanover basketball game
    • 6:00pm - depart LJVM Arena
    • 8:15pm - arrive at Sanderson

    Completion of the Google Form does not guarantee a seat on the fan bus. Seats will be determined by sales on GoFan. Once we're sold out on GoFan, the fan bus is full.

    Absences for this event will be coded as a field trip and will not factor into senior exam exemptions.  If you don’t have access to a printer to print the permission form, we’ll have paper copies available in the front office for you to pick up on Monday.

     

    EARLY RELEASE FOR STUDENTS ON WEDNESDAY

    Students making their own arrangements for the trip to Winston Salem, please complete this Google Form (including a signed non-school sponsored event form, without an "employee signature") by 2:30pm on Tuesday, March 11. You will need to be logged into your WCPSS account to complete the Google Form.  We will have your passes to leave school ready to be picked up outside the main office on Wednesday morning.

    Absences for this event will be coded as a field trip and will not factor into senior exam exemptions.  If you don’t have access to a printer to print the permission form, we’ll have paper copies available in the front office for you to pick up on Monday.

     

    TICKETS FOR THE GAME

    Tickets for the basketball game on Wednesday are sold via Ticketmaster - not GoFan.  Seating is general admission.  Here is the link to purchase.

     

    WAKE UP & READ ANNUAL CHILDREN’S BOOK DRIVE THROUGH MARCH 31ST 

    Sanderson High School will be an official drop-off location for Wake Up and Read’s Annual Children’s Book Drive from March 4th through March 31st! Sponsored by JROTC NC-939's Kitty Hawk Honor Society, we invite you to donate new or gently read books to help kids across Wake County. Last year was a huge success with over 90,000 books distributed to over 9,000 kids and it was from the support of citizens like you! Please bring your donations to drop boxes around the school. Contact Sgt. Howard or Col. Smith with questions. 

     

    WCPSS ELECTRONIC DEVICES SURVEY

    WCPSS is looking for your input! We are gathering feedback from students, families, educators, and community members about how we can improve the way students use educational technology in our schools, including:

    • Cell Phones/Personal Communication Devices: the devices our students bring with them to school, such as cell phones, smartphones, and smartwatches, and
    • School-Issued Instructional Devices: the devices WCPSS issues to students at school, such as Chromebooks and iPads.

    SCHOOL CALENDAR UPDATE FOR SNOW DAYS

    The following dates are no longer teacher workdays.

    These days are now regular school days: March 14, April 7, and May 2.

     

    THE SPARTAN FOOD PANTRY IS GOING STRONG! 

    Since we opened in October, we have served over 41 families and packed over 136 orders!!  Our February order contained frozen ground beef and chicken thighs, apples, cabbage, carrots, and onions. It was wonderful to be able to provide these nutritious items to our families!!  

    Here's a look at our shelves at the end of February. Interfaith Food Shuttle will be restocking our shelves with our monthly order in the coming days. If you are inclined to donate, we can always use snack items.

    CAP AND GOWN DELIVERY MARCH 11 

    Jostens will be on campus Tuesday - March 11th during lunch to deliver cap & gown units. All items must be paid for in full before students can receive their products.  Online payments must be made 48 hours prior to the delivery date.  Cash, Venmo, CashApp and money order only will be accepted on the delivery date.

    SENIOR YARD SIGNS 

    Orders for Senior Yard Sign are being accepted now through March 21.  Use this link to place an order. 

     

    SENIOR FEES 

    All seniors are assessed a $30 fee to cover various costs associated with graduation (diploma cover, stoles, etc.) Seniors must clear all fines/fees prior to graduation in January or June.  Payments must be made through School Cash Online. JUNE Graduates (due by Apr. 30, 2025)

    ANNUAL SPORTS PASS 

    The Annual Sports Pass sold by Sanderson Athletic Club permits entry into all regular season home athletic events for Fall, Winter, & Spring Sports Seasons. 
    All Annual Sports Passes are electronic & will be issued by GoFan. 

     

    REQUIRED FOR PARTICIPATION IN ATHLETICS 

    To participate in athletics students must have an updated physical (in the last year) and other paperwork.  All paperwork must be uploaded to Dragonfly. Your physical form must be the WCPSS form not a generic physical form. Directions for dragonfly.
