SUMMER DRIVERS ED WITH JORDAN DRIVING
Registration for summer classes is April 2, 3, and 4. Each school has its own date and time to register. Sanderson’s assigned time is Wednesday, April 3 at 10am. Families will only be able to register starting on the assigned date and time for their school. Classes can fill up quickly, so please plan ahead for registration.
Jordan Driving School (JDS) is the contracted provider for WCPSS. Individual summer class dates and times can be found on the Jordan Driving School website.
3 YEAR GRADUATION OPTION FOR CURRENT 9th AND 10th GRADERS
North Carolina House Bill 259 requires us to notify our current enrolled 9th and 10th grade students of the opportunity to graduate from high school after their third year. This legislation allows students to apply to be a 3-Year Graduate. Eligible students are only able to apply for this flexibility if they meet the state’s minimum graduation requirements. If you are in your first or second year of high school and want to learn more, please join the virtual meeting at 6:30pm on Wednesday, March 20.
VACCINE REQUIREMENT – CLASS OF 2025
North Carolina law requires all rising 12th graders to receive a meningococcal vaccine booster before starting 12th grade. The vaccination must be completed and current immunization records updated before the 24-25 school year begins.
Parents will need to provide a copy of their child’s immunization record showing proof that the meningococcal vaccine has been completed prior to the first day of school. This is a 2-dose immunization; the 1st dose was required in the 7th grade in Wake County schools. This requirement is for everyone in the Class of 2025 and after.
Send updated immunization records to: SHS-studentsvcs@wcpss.net or Fax: 919-670-4438. More information can be found on the Wake Gov website or the Sanderson website.
PROM
Prom is Saturday, April 13 from 8 PM - 11 PM at Sanderson. This dance is open to Sanderson juniors and seniors. Each Sanderson student is permitted to bring one guest. If the guest does not currently attend Sanderson, the student must complete the appropriate off-campus date forms which will open on February 26 and close on March 20. Tickets are $25 and will be available for purchase starting on April 1.
SANDERSON FOUNDATION MIDTOWN THROWDOWN
The Sanderson Foundation is hosting their 3rd Annual Midtown Throwdown spring doubles tennis tournament to raise money for the Sanderson High School Foundation. This fundraiser, hosted at Quail Hollow Swim and Tennis Club (matches also played at Optimist Park), provides funding for Sanderson High School to help every student grow, thrive and reach their greatest potential. Join us on April 6 from 1:00-9:00pm. BBQ, burgers and hotdogs start at 5:00 with the final Midtown Throwdown championship match at approximately 7:30. Don’t miss this fun Sanderson community event! WCPSS CLEAR BAG POLICY
To increase safety and security at WCPSS-sponsored spectator events on high school campuses, the district will implement new High School Spectator Event Bag Rules beginning March 1, 2024. This is similar to what Sanderson (and other schools in our athletic conference) have been implementing this year. Now it will apply to all spectator events at all WCPSS high schools.
Full rules and FAQs are available at wcpss.net/bagrules. Individuals attending events may be subject to searches of their belongings consistent with governing law and Board policies. Event entry may be dependent on the inspection of any items. Spectators carrying prohibited bags may be denied entry.
