Sanderson High School offers multiple opportunities for students to be involved in the larger Sanderson Community. Community service and involvement is a large part of the "Sanderson Way" and students are encouraged to do their part to make an impact on the community. Social clubs and teams also provide unique opportunities for students to collaborate and form meaningful relationships with their peers.
Membership and participation in all student clubs and organizations is open to all students without regard to age, race, color, religion, gender, gender identity, sex, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, or other protected classifications.

Anime Club
Anime Club
Anime Club is an afterschool activity that is both fun and educational. Members will be watching school appropriate animes and shows and will have fun conversations about what they watch. Students will also have the opportunity to learn how to speak Japanese and Korean. Students can also bring their own creativity into this club by making drawings about their favorite characters or writing their own stories. This club is friendly place where you can let all your stress go and be yourself.
Anime club meets every Thursday in room 240 from 2:30-3:30.
Advisor: Ms. Johnson is serving as advisor for 1st semester and Ms. Kirk will take over as advisor for the 2nd semester.

Art Club

Do you love art and want to do more outside of the classroom? Would you like to become more involved in the community, sharing your artwork and ideas, than the NAHS/ Art club is for you!
Students may join the club at the beginning of either semester or the end of Spring semester for the following year. Dues are paid at the beginning of the semester.
Meetings will be held bi-weekly in room 106. Officers will meet bi-weekly the day prior to the club meeting.
Requirements for Art Club members:
- Monthly meetings are required for all members to attend. More than 3 unexcused absences will result in termination from the club.
- You are required to enter 2 art shows/ competitions.
- You are required to have a total of 5 art related service hours, 3 must be at school.
- All members are required to participate in our annual calendar fundraiser during Holly Days.

DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America)
DECA
DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe. DECA has 80 active members at Sanderson and is one of the largest clubs on campus. Representing all grade levels students can engage in social and academic activities to prepare them for the professional world.
For the 2020-2021 school year chapter meeting will be held virtually. We compete in the fall and spring. Membership is typically open from September - October. As of October 30, DECA membership for 2020-2021 is closed.
Students must be enrolled in or have completed at least one marketing, finance, business, or entrepreneurship class. There are membership dues and competition fees, but financial assistance is available.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA)
Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) is a group that welcomes all students and faculty to gather to learn more about Jesus Christ of the Bible.
Some things we've done in the past include prayer walks, Mudcats Faith and Family night, Worship at the Flagpole, a Christmas gift exchange party, potlucks, game nights, bowling, serving and praying for those going through difficult times, celebrating and praying for those going through exciting times, and more.
Meetings: We meet every Friday from 6:50-7:20am in the main gym to eat breakfast, fellowship, play games, and listen to and engage with encouraging speakers of God's Word. When able, we also meet at other times for socials, service opportunities, and Bible Studies.

The purpose of the Holiday Club is to not only celebrate landmark occasions throughout the year, but to encourage community-building at Sanderson. This is an amazing opportunity for students to come together and meet new people, while cherishing the richness of different cultures and traditions.
We will hold exciting, student-planned events throughout the year, including a Spooky Spectacular, our Jolly Jamboree, Easter Extravaganza, Cinco de Mayo Celebration, and much, much more!
We’ll have movies, games, dancing, food, decorations, special surprises, contests, and other festivities galore. In addition, we will also partake in several service opportunities throughout the year to help give back to our local community.

Our Mission Statement- Key Club is an international, student-led organization that provides its members with opportunities to provide service, build character and develop leadership.
Core Values: Leadership, Character building, Caring, Inclusiveness.
Key Club is the volunteering club at Sanderson. Members sign up for different events of their choice. Examples of events are bagging food for the homeless, cleaning up parks and trails, and working with kids with special needs. Key Club also runs Sanderson's food pantry which provides food directly to students at Sanderson. Key Club is a very rewarding club to be a part of if you want to make a difference in your community.
Requirement to join: $14.50 for dues that cover the Carolinas District of Key Club, and Key Club International.

PALS Club
PALS Club
PALS club is an inclusive club for all students at Sanderson High School. Students play games, eat lunch, and help with social and life skills for the students in the Autism/ECS program. Anyone is able to join PALS club. We meet every day in 119E and 124 E during all lunch periods. Some of the events associated with PALS are: Special Olympics, Unified Track, Field of Dreams, NC State Field day, NC State Fair, Halloween Party, Polar Plunge, Walk for Autism, and Spread the Word to End the Word.
Requirement to join:
- Any student can join PALS club!
- To be on the executive committee, students must have been a consistent member for at least a year and complete the application. Students who have proven leadership and flexibility when working with students will be chosen for the executive committee.
- In order to attend field trips, students must have good grades and be cleared by their other teachers to attend.

Sanderson Book Club targets students who love to read and broaden their scope of books. Through having thought provoking discussions about a wide variety of genres, we aim to encourage members to read independently and explore new ideas. Our club plans to meet on the second Wednesday of each month after school in the library. With access to Wake County kits, SHS Book Club provides copies of the month’s novel to each member.

Science Olympiad
The NCSO is the largest K-12 STEM competition in North Carolina. Our team of students meets at least twice a month to prepare for the tournament in February. Students and coaches work together to determine which events are the best match for each student. Types of events include core knowledge events, build events, laboratory/hands-on events, and hybrid events.

Step Team - Alpha Omega
Stepping or step-dancing is a form of percussive dance in which the participant's entire body is used as an instrument to produce complex rhythms and sounds through a mixture of footsteps, spoken word, and hand claps. 2017 & 2018 Regional Champions, 2017, 2018, 2019 State Champions. Currently Ranked 4th in the Nation (Co-Ed Division)

The purpose of Student Council is to develop and practice good citizenship in the student body, to provide direction of school activities, and assist in the management of student concerns.
Student council members are elected by their peers. Candidates must be in good academic standing, attend school regularly, participate in an application process, and tape a speech.
Student Council plans and hosts events like Spartan Sprint, Powderpuff, the Homecoming Dance, Volleybros, the Food Drive, the Variety Show, Winterfest, Prom, and much more!
