I am excited to be teaching third grade at Aversboro after joining the family last year as an intervention teacher! This is my eighth year of teaching. I have spent most of my teaching career in Johnston County teaching 3rd and 4th grades. I also taught math online with Imagine Learning. At Aversboro, I serve on the Literacy committee to promote reading across the school and our community.
I graduated from American University with a degree in music theatre, as well as the University of Georgia with my master's in elementary education. I cheer for my Dawgs all year long! My husband and I are originally from Rochester, NY. We have lived in the Raleigh area since 2009, and have a dog, cat, and 3 year old son (with another on the way in March 2018!). We love going to festivals, eating out, and watching "Moana" :)
I am Jessica Bird and I am currently teaching 3rd grade at Aversboro for the second year. Teaching is my passion. It is such a treat to be able to do something I love every day. It is always my goal to create an environment where my students want to be there as much as I do!
When I am not teaching, I enjoy traveling. I love seeing new places, eating new foods, and having new experiences. Since I am originally from Kentucky, I also love making the trip back home to visit family.
I have been working in Wake County since I began teaching 4 years ago. I have taught in third and fourth grade. I also student taught in first grade. I graduated from North Carolina State University with a degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in STEM. I am recently married and living in Raleigh. I enjoy crafting and spending time with my husband, cat and friends when I am not teaching. I am so lucky to be a part of the Aversboro Elementary family!
Hi! I am Mrs. Simo and I love teaching here at Aversboro Elementary School! This is my fifth year teaching here and I love being a part of the Third Grade Team! I have taught first grade and second grade as well, and I love them all! I especially like it when my former students visit so I can still keep up with what they are doing! I truly enjoy creating connections with my students and their families! I previously taught in Las Vegas, Nevada where I lived for twenty years and graduated from UNLV ~ Go Rebels! I live in Fuquay Varina with my husband, two sons, and two crazy puppies. My boys, Hunter & Mason, play football for the FVHS Bengals. Although I love my Garner community, I am a Bengal Football Mom through and through ~ Go Bengals! When I am not teaching or watching my boys play football, I enjoy being outdoors. I love the beach, hiking, and walking my dogs. I also love gathering with friends and family for cookouts!
