Ms. Jerika Wrighton

I am thrilled to begin my first year as a Kindergarten Teacher at Vandora Springs Elementary! I have proudly been part of the Vandora family since November 2021, previously serving as a Kindergarten Instructional Assistant. My journey in education has been full of creative and meaningful experiences that led me to this moment.

Before joining VSES, I spent three years teaching high school art and one year teaching middle school art, followed by a half-year as a full-time substitute teacher. My professional background also includes time as a foster care and adoptions social worker, a role that deepened my commitment to advocating for children and partnering with families to help every child thrive.

Originally from Plymouth, North Carolina, I moved with my family to Garner in 2020 and now reside in Raleigh, NC. My husband and I have been together since 2010, married since 2015, and we are proud parents to one amazing son and a set of identical twin daughters! Family is at the heart of everything I do, and I cherish every moment we spend together.

I absolutely love working with children and watching them discover who they are through learning and play. I’m passionate about creating a warm, encouraging classroom where students feel safe, celebrated, and excited to grow. The hugs, laughter, and sweet drawings I receive from my students are just a few of the many things that make teaching such a joy!

Outside the classroom, I’m a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, and a lifelong artist. I enjoy painting, drawing, and hosting mobile paint-and-sip parties that help others tap into their creativity. I also have a passion for planning and decorating weddings, parties, and special occasions. Creativity fuels me, but what fills my heart the most is quality time with my amazing family and friends.

I look forward to a bright, joyful year in kindergarten filled with creativity, connection, and lots of learning. Let’s make it a great one!
