B.A. History with minor in Elementary Education

Ms. Betty Cotton, Teacher

Ms. Cotton is a 4th grade teacher at Green Magnet Elementary School. She earned her degree in History with a minor in Elementary Education from North Carolina Central University. She believes that she has a great passion for teaching and being in the classroom making a difference in the lives of children. In 2022-23, she was gifted the honor of becoming Wake County’s Diane Kent-Parker “First Year” Teacher of the Year recipient. She enjoys reading, playing games, traveling, shopping, spending time with family and friends.

Ms. Danelly Kelly, Teacher

Danelly Kelly was born to parents Cercia and Hewitt Kelly in the beautiful and diverse country of Belize. She has been an elementary teacher for the past 10 years and has a vibrant and smart 6-year-old daughter named Brielle. She enjoys being a mom first, as well as being with family and close friends, reading, travelling, shopping and, of course, being an educator to young children.

Ms. Rakayla Person, Teacher

Ms. Person is a 4th grade teacher at Green Leadership and World Languages Magnet Elementary. She earned her degree in Community Recreation and Event Planning from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She has a true love for teaching, finding joy in inspiring, guiding, and growing alongside her students each day. Before joining Green, she was a kindergarten teacher for two years, now going into her second year in 4th grade at Green. Outside of school, she enjoys reading, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.

Ms. Marsheda Vann, Teacher

Marsheeda Vann began her teaching journey through a residency educator preparation program and has experience teaching 4th grade in both Wake County and Pasquotank County. She is passionate about creating a classroom community where students feel encouraged, supported, and inspired to do their best. Marsheeda believes that every child deserves a champion who recognizes their potential and motivates them to grow. Outside of school, she enjoys spending time with her family, learning new things, and finding joy in everyday moments.
