Sondos Almosawi, Instructional Assistant

Ms. Almosawi is originally from Iraq, Baghdad. She has been in education for 24 years. She worked as an elementary school and middle school teacher in Iraq, and after moving to the United States, worked as a substitute teacher for WCPSS. Ms. Almosawi is the mother of 4 young men and she enjoys reading books, listening to classical music, and watching historical TV shows.

Drew Belois, AU/EBS II Teacher

Mr. Belois is originally from Clinton, NY. He received his Masters degree in Special Education in 2011 from Plattsburgh State University.  Prior to that Mr. Belois was an Art Teacher, After School Program Director, Summer Camp Director, and a Day Habilitation Specialist.  Mr. Belois has been happily married for over ten years and has one daughter who currently attends Root Elementary.  When not in school he can be found frequenting the many local museums, parks and zoos with his family, helping friends with minor projects, or volunteering with construction programs in his community.

Georgiana Gaither, AU/EBS I Teacher

Originally from Arizona, Mrs. Gaither graduated from Arizona State University with a degree in Early Childhood and Special Education. She later completed her Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction before moving to North Carolina. Since 2018, she has taught second grade, supported inclusive classrooms for children with autism, and worked as a special education advocate. Her experience spans both general and special education, and she is passionate about creating supportive learning environments where every student feels understood, empowered, and celebrated.

When she’s not in the classroom, Mrs. Gaither enjoys spending time with her husband, their son, and their goofy dog, Moose. She finds joy in playing tennis, exploring coffee shops, and listening to podcasts. She’s excited to be part of the Root community and looks forward to growing and learning alongside her students.

Jeremy Vance, Instructional Assistant

Mr. Jeremy grew up in Swansboro, North Carolina. He studied at East Carolina University and obtained a BFA in Theatre Arts with a concentration in Stage Management. He's worked at many theatres in the Raleigh area and is excited to bring his experience to share with students at Root. He plans to pursue a career in education while at Root with his fiancé's support. Mr. Jeremy is ecstatic to be a part of the Root family.
