Hello! My name is Maggie Bruce. I am so excited to begin my teaching career at Joyner! I am from Charlotte, NC and attended Appalachian State where I received my Bachelors in Elementary Education and my Masters in Reading Education. This past school year I have been teaching English at a primary school in beautiful Malaga, Spain and traveling as much as I can! I am thrilled to be a new member of the JYJ family and can’t wait for a great school year!

Outside of school, I love to travel, hike, and watch App State Football and Carolina Basketball with friends and family!

Ms. Dominique Frazier

My name is Dom Frazier, and I'm looking forward to a great year! I received both my undergraduate degree and Master's of Education from Meredith College. I was previously a teacher at Joyner, and it feels good to be home. Most recently, I have been a Restorative Practice trainer for WCPSS. I have two children, Scarlett (4th grade) and Judah (age 4), and I'm married to Andy, a hospice chaplain. I grew up mostly in Raleigh, although my family is from Peru. In my free time, I enjoy being outside with my kids, listening to podcasts, and reading. The values that guide me as an educator are curiosity, delight, and equity.

Ms. Kim Millsaps

Originally from northeastern Ohio, I journeyed to North Carolina to attend Wake Forest University where I learned to love all things southern, including my husband, to whom I have been married for 31 years!  I received a B.A. in Education and took my first teaching job in Charlotte, where I earned an M. Ed from UNC-Charlotte. My husband and I moved to Raleigh in 1988 and it was here that our three children were born.

Over the years, I have taught third grade, fourth grade, middle school, and also worked part time at Meredith College supervising student teachers.  After spending twelve delightful years as a JYJ parent, I joined the teaching staff in 2010. Both as parent and teacher, I learned that the “joy” in Joyner comes from the special relationships that grow and flourish between the members of the Joyner family. I feel incredibly fortunate to spend my days with curious JYJ third graders, sharing my love for learning, and especially reading.  When not at school, I am most likely, hiking at Umstead, biking on the Raleigh Greenways, playing with our rabbit, Stella, or curled up with a good book!

Ms. Kaylah Piner

Hello friends and families! My name is Kaylah Piner, and I am so excited to join the JYJ family this year! I was born and raised in Raleigh, NC and have lived here my entire life. I recently graduated from UNC Greensboro, where I obtained my degree in Special and Elementary Education (Go Spartans!). I have always had a passion for education, ever since I was a little girl. It's a bit surreal to see my dreams finally become a reality. Outside of school, I love spending time with my friends and family, listening to music and going on road trips. I am so excited to join the 3rd grade team and embark on this new journey at this amazing school, and I look forward to making this year great!
