Exams and EOC Check Out information

We are not able to allow parents to check students out during any exam or testing session during our testing days on 1/18-1/25. This aligns with testing policy, and we cannot make exceptions. This includes teacher-made exams and state end-of-course tests. Our exam schedule can be found on our website. Please ensure that students will not need to leave on testing days for appointments, etc.

Students who have EOC tests on any days from 1/20-1/25 may leave school following the testing session with parent permission, if the parent can arrange transportation. The permission form can be found on our website, and teachers will also have copies of the form available next week. The form should be completed and signed by the parent and returned to the teacher administering the test on the day of the test.

Curriculum Fair Jan 26th 6:00-8:00

We will be hosting our Curriculum Fair on January 26 from 6:00-8:00. This in-person event will provide families and students with the opportunity to learn more about our academic and elective programs for the 2023-2024 school year. We look forward to welcoming both our current students and families as well as our rising 9th graders and their families. Please visit our website for more information as we get close to the date.

Absences - Excuse Notes

Parents, this is a reminder that if a student is absent, please submit an excuse/medical note to the Attendance Office within two (2) days of the student's return to school.  After two days, absences will remain unexcused unless third-party documentation is provided, e.g., doctor’s note.

SECU "People Helping People" Scholarship

SENIORS: The $10,000 SECU "People Helping People" Scholarship Application process is now live! Counselors will be holding an Information Session on Tuesday, January 10th during ALL lunches in the Media Center to go over eligibility, the application process and to answer any questions. Important information will be passed out at this meeting. If you are not able to make it, please email Mrs. OBerto or Ms. Holliday. A flier for the scholarship can be found on the Student Services Scholarship page.

Saturday Academy

Reminder that Wakefield is hosting Saturday Academy next weekend, January 14th, from 9:00-Noon. Students are encouraged to arrive a few minutes before 9:00 to get signed in and to their appropriate location. This opportunity is open to all students. During this time students can make up time for excessive unexcused absences (11 or more in any class), receive assistance from administration and intervention team members on academic work and have access to school resources in a low distraction environment. There will be staff present certified in all core areas to support student learning/progress, along with peer tutors for math.

For students currently in English II, Math 1, Math 3 or Biology there will be an EOC review session offered this Saturday, January 14th.

When arriving, all students should report to the media center to sign in. We ask that students come prepared with a device and charger for the device as we have a limited number of loaners available. For students who need a calculator, we ask that they bring those with them as well or be prepared to use Desmos. Please reach out to Mrs. Acrey by email with any additional questions at hacrey@wcpss.net

Yours,
