    SHELTER IN PLACE EVENT

    Families,

The safety of our students and staff is the number one priority for WCPSS.

Due to a brief tornado warning, our schools “Sheltered-in-Place” from 12:12 - 12:42 p.m. today.

Shelter-in-Place is similar to a tornado drill. Students and staff were relocated to spaces that are deemed safe areas of their school buildings. They were allowed to have organized and supervised restroom breaks, medical attention, food and water if necessary. During a Shelter-in-Place, no one is allowed in or out of the building.

Thank you for your continued support of our school.

This week marks exam week at Wakefield High School. Please review the following important details regarding the schedule and policies:

    • Schedule:

      • Monday through Thursday: School will run from 7:25 AM to 11:30 AM.
      • Friday: Reserved as a make-up day for students who missed exams earlier in the week.
    • Early Check-Out Policy:

      • Students will not be permitted to check out early on exam days.
      • If your student has an appointment that would require early check-out, they should plan to take their exam on a make-up day instead.
    • Exam Duration:

      • Each exam is allotted 4 hours, though most students will finish early. However, because these exams are state-administered, students are not allowed to leave before the testing window closes.
    • Exam Schedule:

      • Monday: English 2 EOC and 1st-period CTE exams
      • Tuesday: Math 1 EOC, Math 3 EOC, and 2nd-period CTE exams
      • Wednesday: Biology EOC and 3rd-period CTE exams
      • Thursday: 4th-period CTE exams
    • EOC and CTE Exam Guidance:

      • If a student has both an EOC exam (English 2, Math 1, Math 3, or Biology) and a CTE exam scheduled on the same day, they should prioritize the EOC exam. The CTE exam can be taken on the make-up day or on a date arranged with their teacher.
    • Encouragement for Exam Success:

      • Please encourage your child to do their best on both CTE and EOC exams.
      • EOC exam scores will be included on students' official transcripts.
      • Students who do not score proficient on an EOC exam will be strongly encouraged to retake the exam at the end of the year following remediation. This will give them an opportunity to achieve proficiency.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation during exam week. Please encourage your student to prepare well, arrive on time, and get plenty of rest. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to the school office.
