North Carolina Governor’s School
The North Carolina Governor's School is a four-week summer residential program for gifted and talented high school students, integrating academic disciplines and the arts. Athletic Fundraiser
Bricks for the legacy walk at the Wolverine's stadium are on sale now through December 20th. These bricks are installed into the walkway and become a permanent part of Wakefield High School. They are a great way to commemorate a student, teach, coach, team or business. Bricks can be customized with text and logos to convey whatever message you like and 100% of the proceeds go to the Wakefield Wolverine Club. Wakefield Haunted House
The International Thespian Society is running it's annual haunted house attraction during the evenings on Friday and Saturday. The students have worked very hard on it this and it's going to be frightfully fun!
Saturday Academy
Reminder that Wakefield is hosting Saturday Academy next weekend on October 29th, from 9:00-Noon. This opportunity is open to all students. During this time students can make up time for excessive unexcused absences (10 or more), receive assistance from administration and intervention team members on academic work and have access to school resources in a low distraction environment. For students specifically needing math assistance, we will have math intervention teachers present. Please reach out to Mrs. Acrey by email with any questions at hacrey@wcpss.net. Don’t miss out on the last Saturday academy opportunity before the end of the first quarter.
Report Card Pick-Up and Parent/Teacher Conference Night
Wakefield High School has scheduled a dual-purpose event for Wednesday, November 9, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Parents can pick up their child’s report card as well as have parent/teacher conferences. Report cards that are not picked up will be distributed to students in the Period 2 class on Thursday, November 10.
Details on scheduling parent/teacher conferences will be posted on the WHS homepage later this week.
Make-Up Picture Day
Strawbridge Studios will be on campus Wednesday, October 26, for make-up pictures. Seniors and underclassmen who did not have the opportunity to take their photos are scheduled to take them throughout the day.
Underclassmen who would like to retake their photo must return their original proof on Wednesday in order to sit for another photo. These students should bring their original proofs to return. Students without their original proofs will not be able to retake their photo.
Wakefield High School Spirit Day at Crumbl Cookies
November 9, 2022 8am-10pm 8815 Six Forks Road Crumbl Cookies will donate 20% of all purchases to the WHS PTSA when you mention “Wakefield High School.” This is a great opportunity to assist with fundraising for our school.
Student Volunteers
The Wakefield High School PTSA is hosting our annual Mistletoe Market on November 12, 2022. This is a great opportunity for any students looking for community service volunteer hours to get them by supporting the sole PTSA fundraiser for this year.We will be setting up all day on Friday November 11 and then hosting the event on Saturday, November 12th .
