This is Tripp Crayton, Principal at Wakefield High School, with your weekly announcement. Hopefully, you are enjoying the long weekend, and we look forward to seeing everyone refreshed upon their return to school on Tuesday. Senior exams begin Tuesday, with CTE exams taking place for all underclassmen on Tuesday as well. Underclassmen begin exams Friday. Please review our school website for the most up-to-date exam schedule.

Please note that students who need to miss an exam day due to an excused absence must make arrangements in advance (where appropriate) with teachers. Simply showing up on the make-up exam day does not automatically authorize a student to take the make-up exam.

Due to district changes, high schools can no longer release early after exams since buses will not run until the end of the school day. However, students may leave early after their scheduled exams have ended each day with parental permission. Permission forms to leave early after scheduled exam periods can be printed from our school’s website along with required guidelines which must be adhered to on exam days. Students without signed parental permission to leave early will remain in supervised activities until the end of the school day.

Please note that there is only one more Saturday attendance validation for students to take advantage of—May 30th. Students must report to main campus no later than 8:50 a.m. to be admitted.

Other than graduating seniors, if you are receiving this phone message and your child will not be returning to Wakefield High School next year, please contact our Registrar at 919-562-3664 in order to complete the withdrawal process.
Summer school applications are now available in Student Services on both campuses as well as on the school’s website. Applications must be signed by both the parent and student. Applications must be turned in to Student Services by June 26th in order to be considered for summer school.

The remaining portion of this message is for seniors and senior parents:
All senior fines were due May 15th. Any senior who still has a fine will not receive graduation tickets for graduation at rehearsal on June 1st. If your senior still has a fine, please have him/her come by the media center immediately in order to clear their account. Graduation rehearsal takes place on Monday, June 1st at 1:00 p.m. Students should report at 12:30 p.m. and report to Exhibit Hall A.
Seniors are invited to Baccalaureate scheduled for Sunday, May 31st at 4:00 p.m. at Mill Bridge Amphitheater off Rogers Road in Wake Forest. This is a nondenominational, spiritual ceremony to celebrate our graduates. Seniors should be at Mill Bride by 3:30 p.m. in gowns. You do not need to RSVP, and there is no limit on the number of attendees. Seniors and families are invited to this special ceremony.

As always, it’s all about the “W”. Enjoy the rest of the long weekend. Goodbye.
