Math Intervention

eMail: jbrown9@wcpss.net

Hello there! My name is Josh Brown and I am now the math intervention teacher at Olive Chapel! I have been in education for over 15 years, and during the last five years, I was a 4th-grade teacher at OCE. I am overjoyed to continue working with the Olive Chapel faculty and community in this new role.

I am originally from Pennsylvania (Indiana, PA), so I am a big Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Penguins fan. Much of my immediate family still lives in and around Pittsburgh, PA, although my mom has relocated to Tampa, Florida. I’ve been in North Carolina for over 10 years, and I absolutely love this state! I am so honored to serve the teachers, students, and families at our school, and I look forward to meeting you!

Hi! My name is Mary Theresa Berg and I have been teaching for nearly 10 years! I am honored and thrilled to be the reading intervention teacher and instructional facilitator for grades 3-5. Olive Chapel Elementary School is a wonderful place that promotes growth in all our students and teachers. I look forward to working with all students and teachers this year!

In my free time I love to read, hike, and travel with my husband. We have two of the sweetest and silliest pups; a golden retriever, named Piper and a Labrador retriever, named Jack. We love taking them for walks, playing fetch, and especially watching them open their monthly Bark Box.

I'm looking forward to a great year!

K-2 Intervention

Hi! My name is Rebecca Tiler and I am excited to join the staff at Olive Chapel Elementary as a part-time intervention teacher in kindergarten and first grade! I live in Apex with my husband and 3 children (ages 6, 11, and 14). In addition to being a busy mom, I love being active, traveling, swimming, ice skating, and going to the mountains. I have lived in NC for most of my life and have always enjoyed working with children.

I graduated from Elon University with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and UNC Chapel Hill with a Master's degree in Literacy K-12.  I taught first and third grade for 7 years prior to staying at home with my children, tutoring, and teaching swimming lessons. Now that all 3 of my children are in school, I am happy to be back in the classroom helping children reach their full potential. I'm looking forward to a great year!

I am thrilled to continue working at Olive Chapel as a full-time English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher. I have been an elementary school teacher for nearly 25 years, with the past several supporting Multilingual Learners and collaborating with their teachers. I love that our students and staff are a diverse community, with over 30 languages spoken at OCE! Apex has been my home for nearly 20 years, where I have enjoyed the privilege of teaching at my daughters' schools. Now that both girls are grown, my husband and I are adjusting to a quieter life. We enjoy lake and beach vacations, attending concerts, college football and basketball games, and taking care of our two dogs.

I am excited to continue at Olive Chapel in my part-time ESL role.

Prior to moving to NC, my husband was in the Army and we spent quite a few years living in different locations. Colorado Springs, CO was one of the prettiest and Harrogate, England, the farthest, but we finally settled in NC when he was discharged, happy to be near family.

Wake County is where I have spent most of my career beginning at Leesville Elementary in North Raleigh. After Leesville, I worked at Central Office in the Literacy Department.  After I left Central Office in 2018, I began working at Olive Chapel doing 3-5 Instructional Facilitator/Literacy Intervention. Due to pandemic reasons, I retired early in December 2020.

My husband and I now live on a small hobby farm in Chatham Country learning about sustainable farming while raising chickens. Maybe some beehives in the future too?

We have two grown children that I am thankful are both living in the area.

I look forward to working with the wonderful people at Olive Chapel again!

I am excited to be the K-2 Literacy Coach and Instructional Facilitator at Olive Chapel Elementary.  I have been in education for more than 30 years and have loved supporting both students and staff with teaching and learning.

Our family moved a lot when I was growing up, so I have lived in Indiana, New York, Florida, and Minnesota. However, North Carolina has been my home for more than 35 years.

I have one married son who graduated from NC State and works for Amazon Web Services.  I have two adorable grandsons, Luke and Logan, and an extra sweet Aussiedoodle named Frankie Lou!

I am truly glad to be part of the Olive Chapel Crew!
