Mr. Brown

Math Intervention

eMail: jbrown9@wcpss.net

Hello there! My name is Josh Brown and I am now the math intervention teacher at Olive Chapel! I have been in education for over 15 years, and during the last five years, I was a 4th-grade teacher at OCE. I am overjoyed to continue working with the Olive Chapel faculty and community in this new role.

I am originally from Pennsylvania (Indiana, PA), so I am a big Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Penguins fan. Much of my immediate family still lives in and around Pittsburgh, PA, although my mom has relocated to Tampa, Florida. I’ve been in North Carolina for over 10 years, and I absolutely love this state! I am so honored to serve the teachers, students, and families at our school, and I look forward to meeting you!

Hi! My name is Mary Theresa Berg and I have been teaching for nearly 10 years! I am honored and thrilled to be the reading intervention teacher and instructional facilitator for grades 3-5. Olive Chapel Elementary School is a wonderful place that promotes growth in all our students and teachers. I look forward to working with all students and teachers this year!

In my free time I love to read, hike, and travel with my husband. We have two of the sweetest and silliest pups; a golden retriever, named Piper and a Labrador retriever, named Jack. We love taking them for walks, playing fetch, and especially watching them open their monthly Bark Box.

I'm looking forward to a great year!

I am thrilled to continue working at Olive Chapel as a full-time English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher. I have been an elementary school teacher for nearly 25 years, with the past several supporting Multilingual Learners and collaborating with their teachers. I love that our students and staff are a diverse community, with over 30 languages spoken at OCE! Apex has been my home for nearly 20 years, where I have enjoyed the privilege of teaching at my daughters' schools. Now that both girls are grown, my husband and I are adjusting to a quieter life. We enjoy lake and beach vacations, attending concerts, college football and basketball games, and taking care of our two dogs.

I am excited to be back at Olive Chapel in my new part-time ESL Teacher.

I retired in December 2020 after working at Olive Chapel for 6 years as the  3-5 Instructional Facilitator and Literacy Intervention.  I worked in Wake County since 1995 starting in N. Raleigh at Leesville Elementary.

Prior to moving to NC, my husband was in the service. We spent quite a few years living in different locations. Colorado Springs was one of the prettiest and Harrogate, England, the farthest, but we finally settled in NC when he got out to be near family.

We now live on a small hobby farm in Chatham Country learning about sustainable farming while raising chickens. Maybe some beehives in the future too?

We have two grown children that I am now thankful are both living in the area.

I look forward to working with the wonderful people at Olive Chapel again!

I have one married son who graduated from NC State and works for Amazon Web Services.  I have two adorable grandsons, Luke and Logan, and an extra sweet Aussiedoodle named Frankie Lou!

I have been teaching in Wake County since 2007 and I have been at Olive Chapel Elementary since 2013.  I love spending every moment here with the students and staff.  I work with both students and staff on integrating technology, staff professional development, problem solving, and coordinating testing for grade levels.  Previously, I taught both 3rd and 4th grade for 7 years before coming to OCE.

I'm originally from Michigan where I graduated with both my Undergraduate and Master's Degree in Education, Literacy and Technology from Michigan State University, GO GREEN!  I live near OCE with my wonderful husband and two boys.  Both my children are now attending Olive Chapel, because we love this school so much! I love spending time at the pool with my family, visiting family and friends who live all over the country, being silly with my boys, and shopping at Target of course!
