I have served the Olive Chapel community since 2004; I have been fortunate to grow here as a teacher and as an assistant principal, and I’m honored to be the principal.

Olive Chapel is known for its positive culture; you feel the warmth in our school as you enter the building, and we are proud of the work we’ve put into creating this special place. We believe in the value of a team and we center our work on building positive relationships, creating an inclusive learning environment and having courageous conversations.

On the personal side, I hold an undergraduate degree in elementary education and child development from Meredith College and, through the NC Principal Fellows Program, I graduated with a master’s degree in school administration from NC State University. I live in Apex with my husband, Nate, and our two girls, Ella and Eva, both of whom are students at Olive Chapel. When the weather is warm, we love going to the beach or pool, and we travel whenever we can.

Please know that I am committed to serving our students, staff, families and the greater community. I look forward to what we will do together, and I thank you for your support.

Hello Clippers!  My name is Jared Boyer and I am thrilled to join you as an assistant principal here at Olive Chapel Elementary!

I am originally from Kalamazoo, Michigan.  In 2006, I moved to North Carolina with my family and entered the teaching profession in Fuquay-Varina at Ballentine Elementary.  Since that time, I have taught grades 2-5 and have enjoyed working with hundreds of students over the years.

I completed my administrative degree at Appalachian State and most recently was assistant principal at Scotts Ridge Elementary.  I am grateful to continue my oceanic journey here at Olive Chapel.

North Carolina has been home now for 17 years and we love it!  I am here in N.C. with my wife, my three sons (4rd grade, 7th grade, 9th grade), my 11th grade daughter, and our bunny Clover.

My interests include working with students, spending time with my family, being at the beach, fixing things, reading books, and writing stories.  I am a huge fan of warm cookies and fresh ice cream.

My passion revolves around instilling within others a desire to learn and a belief that they can achieve their dreams.  Together we can help every child learn, grow, and find success.

Thank you for welcoming me on as a new Clipper.  I look forward to joining you on the voyage.

Ms. Charles

Assistant Principal

My name is Ashley Charles and I am so excited to join the Clippers team (again!).  I completed my administrative internship at OCE in 2017 and worked alongside Mrs. May.  I learned a great deal from her during that time and I am fortunate to be able to continue under her mentorship as an official Assistant Principal.  The OCE team, in collaboration with the community, has established a top-notch school and I look forward to continuing to support the OCE vision in which every child reaches their full potential.

A little more about me: I am a former Special Education elementary teacher and my love for children with special needs flows into everything I do.  I taught for six years, working with students with various disabilities.  Following my teaching experience, I attended UNC-Chapel Hill to obtain my Master of School Administration degree.  After my internship here at OCE, I worked for five years as an Assistant Principal at Chatham Middle School in Siler City.  I am incredibly thankful for my experience in middle school and will take some of the greatest memories with me, but I am eager to work with elementary students once again.

Personally, I live in Chapel Hill with my husband Michael, our one year old, Craig, and our five year old bulldog, Dottie.  My husband is also a teacher, currently teaching seventh grade Social Studies in Chatham County.  Our home is filled with a love of education, children and slobbery bulldogs.
